You're fortunate it is his final year. The sooner the better for NIU.
Hope Dontel is healthy enough to play. Long road looking back. Bad wheels is bad wheels. Been hearing about Dontel's return here for quite awhile. So far, nada. Hoping he can experience playing competitively in a game.

I don't know, 222, I'm kind of with Gobaseline on this one. If Armstead does, indeed, play a big part on this team, I don't think that bodes well. If his minutes aren't reduced, that means some of our newcomers haven't stepped up.

Armstead is going to get 18 plus minutes a game.

Armstead is good defensively, erratic offensively.

18 by design or because he is being torched and lost his mind already?
Too easily rattled and gotten into his head. Disappears like Casper. Freshman lose their minds for other reasons and if the arrow is pointing correctly you can live with it. Armstead isn't a bad player in his right mind but loses it too often. Folds like a Chinese fan, many times over. He is a senior and still has to have the ball in his hands to feel successful. Bad example for the young gun slingers coming in.

Aaric Armstead averages double figures, rebounds and is a good defender. He will and should receive a lot of playing time!

We will need all hands on deck to make a run for it this year. All good teams have depth. This should be a really competitive team. Hopefully they can all play well together.

You gloss over the fact that he shot 37% from the field, 66% from the line, and has averaged LESS than one assist a game over his career.
He does rebound well from the guard position, and as you say, plays solid defense. Nice attributes. He's a substandard offensive player, though. If the Huskies are going to make a run at the dance, Armstead needs to be a role player.
All that said, I hope he proves me totally wrong and kills it this season. I met Aaric and his family when the Huskies came to Las Vegas for their post season tournament. Nice kid, nice family. I enjoy rooting for athletes that deserve to be rooted for. He's one of them.

I like that. Have to remember it.

I'll be my best NIU paranoid self:
IF this hype comes to bear...how do we keep this kid at NIU for his entire collegiate career? This hoop transfer business is maddening.

RE: Eugene German Update
German is a gym rat, I do not believe he could handle sitting out if he transferred. Make no mistake about it NIU has several players of Germans caliber or better. Monty has built a program not just a quick fix! They are capable of handling players leaving. Example of a program and not a quick fix: they probably could get away with red shirting Wagner and McCarthy this year. They are two incoming freshman. In the past that was impossible to do.
