Chicago knew from the trade deadline forward they weren't going to keep Chapman long-term. That wouldn't be consistent with Theo's approach.

Who else would you blame for Maddon over pitching a guy ? The entire organization ? Maddon is a ass clown-IMO. The most overrated buffoon around in baseball today.

also... a World Series Champion.

Pretty sure just about any good baseball guy could have won the WS with that team but he came damn close to blowing it.

That sentiment doesn't negate the fact that he did it. That's all I'm saying.

They had a ton of talent there and I credit the GM with those teams not Joe the genius. Not sure what you were looking at but those teams were loaded with pitching and some great young players.

Epstein hired him as manager, no? Entrusted him with all that young talent? Come on.

Looking at the same teams you were. One great pitcher, 1 great position player. This is on those Tampa teams

No MLB makes the playoffs with one great pitcher and one great position player. I know you love Joe but the guy is so overrated it is me want to barf. They had pitching and talent at most spots. As for the Cubs, they were flat out loaded.

Learn to read and ask a relevant question. I know you hate Maddon because he hurt your cousin's feelings, but that isn't relevant to his competency as a manager.

Seth Frankoff called up by the Cubs today. He's been good in Iowa this year, hopefully he'll make a mark while Hendricks is on the DL.

Look at the roster Mullet, Longo, Price were the only "great" Players on that team. Then they had a few good, Shields, Garza, Crawford. Look at the roster, I did

Not your day Hoops: http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/19681...der-season

Sounds like this could have been much worse, but it will probably push him back at least a year.

Yup, everyone was ready for him to come up and knock Headly to the bench. The only bright side is he's very young and it's not his throwing arm.

Tribe- Very odd, especially non throwing arms, but, i guess that's what happens when you collide full speed with a big dude.

RE: 2016 and 2017 MLB Thread
Cubs are still waiting to take off. I love what Theo has done with the roster, creating a lot of redundancy, but it has also complicated the future as far as I can tell (Theo probably has a better idea of future plans). We're really missing Dexter Fowler to set the table, and then some big bats have struggled, and Addison Russell has taken a significant step back. Schwarber, Happ or Baez have to be traded for pitching. Right now, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but it has to be Schwarber.

Happ in LF, Jon Jay/ Almora in CF and Baez/Zobrist as utility makes the most sense.

Fell back due to bull pen issues and that is where they should be great.

I don't see a market for Schwarber right now unless they want to give him away. He will have to prove he can hit first.

That and injuries, as well as the regression of Sevy and Pinada who were both great the first two months, Sevy bounced back today aside from the first. The pen is 100% on Clueless Joe, he has no idea how to manage it!
