Andre Turner's interview w/ Calkins
Brad Carson ‏@BradCarson
Andre Turner calling @geoff_calkins by @JohnMartin929 's name for the length of a full @929espn interview is the greatest April Fool's gag.

John Martin ‏@JohnMartin929
You can tell that Andre Turner sincerely loves the University of Memphis.

Probably the most clutch player in Tiger history. 85 Tourney.

wasn't the NC State team talking about him...in that 30 for 30 movie they shot on ESPN about Jim Valvano?

I recently watched that late at night and used captions and don't recall a mention. Unfortunately, we don't get the pub some other top BB schools get. We, in all probability, would have went to 3 straight F4s from 83-85 if we had not been matched up with Phi Slamma Jamma in S16 in 83 and 84 tourney. Great teams and very good coach. Maybe 4 in a row if you think about '86. Some say best team of Dana era. I asked a player that spanned those teams and he said 85 was best without a doubt which I agree with.

Anyway, had to play LSU on their home floor and lost by 2 and it was 5 vs 7 (believe only two refs then). Worst officiated NCAA tournament game I've ever seen.

It was the same 30/30 show but it was about them about to meet the Houston Cougars.....and The Glide jumping over Andre for the slam......

I was at that game. Truly bogus calls at the end. I wrote the NCAA and even got a response. I think it was soon after they would not allow a team to play on its home court. Which is still a joke..have you seen where they always send Duke/NC?

Kansas plays in KC a lot and Kentucky plays in Louisville a lot. Its all about who fills up the arena.

No, it is about being a 4 seed and below. They will place you in a pod closest to your campus.

We won't ever get that close unless the Landers center gets a pod

Four seeds and higher (top sixteen teams overall) are protected for location considerations. Nobody else is.

Tell that to the 2006 #1 seed Tigers - playing UCLA in Oakland.

Only applies to the first two rounds, but if we were the #1 overall seed that year we would have been placed in the regional site closest to Memphis.

Dre truly love Memphis. I really thought he had a job on CJP staff. His interview went great but coach decided to come in another direction. He has been a blessing at Mitchell and our community.

We also had two home games at Mid-South Coliseum in the 1984 NCAA tournament, winning twice to advance to the Sweet 16.

The Medicine Man made an appearance during the second game (Purdue) and the MSC went NUTS! Went on the beat Purdue by 20-something, but it wasn't that close.

Also, La. Tech (with Karl Malone) played Houston (Drexler/Olajuwan) the same night.

Well in 2012 there was a path that would have been Nashville then Atlanta or St. Louis then New Orleans.

RE: Andre Turner's interview w/ Calkins
I was 14 years old and was in attendance in Houston to witness the W over Penn and the VERY VERY close win over 7 seed UAB

That UAB team was loaded

So thankful to my parents for taking time off from their jobs and the time to drive to almost every torny the Tigers ever played during my youth

86 Metro torny in Louisville was a blast

Also witnessed the Georgetown NCAA win at the torny held at UL

Only torny I didn't get to go to was 85 final 4.

Love my mom and dad for being such great tiger fans

Also attended another 20+ road games to usm/Tulane/etc.
