Outdoor T&F
George pulled double duty this week, setting top marks in both the long jump and the 200-meter dash. In the long jump, he set a facility record at UTSA with a leap of 7.73 meters (25-4.5), setting the bar with the farthest long jump in the Sun Belt Conference to date this season. The mark catapulted George into the nation's top 10, placing him ninth in the country.

RE: Outdoor T&F
UL had two T&F athletes who received conference honors this week.

Beau Robinson broke a 28 year school record in the 10,000 with a 30:56. It's the fastest time in the conference this season, but the season is still young. There are a quite a few 10,000 runners in the conference that are seniors, so times in the 10,000 by seasons end will probably be in the low 30's or under.

Morgann Leleux became the first female in the conference to break 14' in the pole vault. She cleared 14.3m which is fifth best in the nation for this season. Morgann won many All-American honors while she was at Georgia, but transferred to UL for her senior season.

Texas Relays are happening, started yesterday. I believe ULL and UTA were there last year (as were we , of course). Anyone else? I'll be watching some (on LHN)

This is about to come on, on LHN (coverage from 2:30 on)
Does anyone understand the university/college splits in this? Teams you think should be in one is in the other and, seriously, I haven't figured it out. Large and small schools are in both. It's not by powers/non power or major/mid major splitting. Very confusing.

Nice. Lots of top competition there.

Hey TXST folks (you'll get the joke) a kid from the U of Alaska did well in the decathlon. (no, I'm serious) He was in 3rd last I recall.

In the meantime, we have the Bobcat Invitational going on in SM. How they split the team, I have no clue.

RE: Outdoor T&F
TXST just misses the 4x100 men's final. It's a time final, rather than prelim place elimination. Just too many athletes/teams.

Tyler Hughes, ULL, has the best time, so far, in the 110 hurdles prelims. That's after 3 heats. I'll keep "track."

TXST ladies qualify for the finals in the 4x400. Men's heats just underway. USA holds the stadium record for men.

TXST and UTA made one of the the men's 4x400 final. This is where the split happens as there will be 2 separate 4x400 finals.

UGH. The announcers just called the UNT runner as the TXST guy for the men's DMR. Good gravy, it's not like they don't know who TXST is.

They did it again, saying TXST in the "green and white" 03-banghead

RE: Outdoor T&F
Anywho...............I'm impressed that our guys are hanging in 4th in this because our distance runners usually suck. (16 teams)

If you don't know (and I didn't) this relay is a 5K broken up into 4 runners doing 1200, 400, 800, 1600 in that order.
