Why do people sometimes seem to have more compassion for dawgs than people? There is an old saying that goes something like this. Put you wife and your dawg in the trunk of your car and ride around for three hours. Then open the trunk up and see which one is glad to see you.

Caring so much for dawgs is a natural thing and when we stop doing that we lose some of our humanity. When the wife is emotionally ready we will be welcoming in a new member to our family via one of the rescue groups.
Sorry for the loss of your furrbaby. It has to be very hard on your family and especially your wife. I'm glad you'll get another. Loving deeply, letting go and learning to love again are part of what makes us human.

We lost our senior dog that we'd had for three years in July (we found him wandering, abandoned three years prior). Miss him every single day.
I feel so sorry for people who have never opened their homes and hearts to a dog. There is nothing more loyal and loving.
I believe dogs are an example of God's unconditional love while we are here on earth. Afterall DOG is GOD spelled backwards...

The news anchors where all "animal abuse is terrible, I hope they catch the creep who abused the dog" and everyone else on the desk nodding and tut-tuting...
That exchange followed their report on the bombing in Pakistan. No after report concern from the news desk on that one......
I remember this because it was such a striking dichotomy between the actions after the two stories.
was it wcco?

The abuse that factory farmed animals go through is equal to any dog fighting abuse that's trumped up by the media. The difference is people are emotionally bound to their domesticated pets and are conditioned to think their food is grown on Ol' McDonald's Farm, so they don't even realize they should be outraged the way they are for dog food.
Not equal by any measure. Finding examples of deliberate abuse of cattle, hogs, chickens, turkeys, or any other domesticated animals raised for slaughter is not something easy to do. It is not in the best interest for a farm to abuse their animals, and it's certainly not a deliberate act that a large corporate farm would engage in considering the consequences to the bottom line.

I like dogs OK. They are just animals that do what their species does. They have no real choice in the matter. It's dog OWNERS that I can't stand. Many of them have zero respect for those around them that really would rather not have to deal with their dog schitting in and digging up their yard or listening to them bark all fcking night.
By the way...Is it really necessary to take the damn dog everywhere you go? I have a cousin that thought it was cool to bring his "little darling" with him to visit for the day without asking. Needless to say...I pissed him off when I told him "Precious" had to stay outside.

It's actually a quick Youtube search away. The food companies and slaughterhouses are officially against it but that's merely to save public face, they don't care as long as the work gets done, food processed and delivered, everything's profitable, etc... Plus anyone whose worked a job of any kind knows that just because rules are laid out doesn't mean they are followed by employees, meaning animal abuse/neglect is pretty common at factory farms and slaughterhouses.

My overall point is that animal abuse goes farther than what's done to domesticated pets. It's why I sometimes shake my head at the major moral outrage people have over dog abuse, which is not a good thing by itself to be fair.

humans will eat whatever they can if they have to....
there is a shiteload of humans that now manufacture and engineer meat....
you weirdos with that crapola.....
y'all have fun with that thinking and see how that lib shite falls back into that trough.....
LOL, liberal? I'm as extremely moderate (and non-political) as it gets. There's no general interest board on this board that isn't dead (e.g. the Sports Bar) which is why I posted it on the political forum.

Sorted by relevance the first page contains one video less than two years old. Many of the videos include language like "may be painful" or "not meant to" designed to create feelings of sympathy and evoke an emotional rather than a logical response. Are there some cases of farms abusing animals? Of course, but it's not rampant abuse like groups such as peta and mercyforanimals and such would have you believe.

there is zero centrist in ya.....
Based on previous posts from him I wouldn't consider him a "liberal". And I think it's a valid question - sure, punish somebody that mistreats animals, but it shouldn't be a worse punishment than for someone that mistreats humans, at least those that can't defend themselves.
