RE: 2015-2016 Season-perception vs reality
Easy peeps. Just because he is misguided doesn't mean we need to trash him on a public forum. It didn't work out between him and the program - let's just end it there.

I'm one who is awfully defensive of college kids, but he's the one going public with his "criticism" of the program. At that point, if he is going to dish it, he has to be able to take it.
We've had plenty of players who have come here, and it didn't work out, and no one said a bad word about them (does anyone even remember David McClenny?). Pervier is bringing much of this heat upon himself.

I think there's a pretty good chance that unless he's ragging on ODU (then taking it down), we'll rarely, if ever, see this kid's name anywhere on the American sports scene

Seriously, though, does anyone else remember David McClenny?

Agree. Thinking recently: Mosley, Clark, Palmore, Batten. I have nothing but good things to say about any of them.

I believe the kid has talent. Do I believe at this moment he could compete in CUSA or higher? Absolutely not, but he has some good basketball qualities. However (and it's a big "however"), all of that was/is eclipsed by his overall attitude. Yes, he was good in JUCO, but he didn't have to work for it. Then he gets the awesome opportunity to move up and prove his worth. But when he was challenged, instead of taking it as an opportunity to grow/learn/etc., he chose to essentially say "**** it, I'm good enough." Instead of looking at ODU (and it's staff) as a place where he could grow and build his professional resume, he has chosen the path of weirdly believing that everything ODU is out to get him.
Since he obviously reads these boards, and he is consumed with "proving us wrong," this message is directly for you. I think you believe that once you leave ODU, some team (most likely overseas) will pick you up and you'll have a chance to prove yourself. However, if you think the same mentality you displayed this past year will yield success at a professional level, you are sadly mistaken. The next level is exactly that, the "next" level. God blessed you with a tall frame, but that's it; you've got to earn everything after that. You are going have a few teams overseas that will want you for a year or 2, but that isn't success. If you continue to display the same work ethic/attitude/etc., these teams (and potential future teams) will wane interest. However, you investing yourself to continuously getting better and pushing yourself against better competition will provide a longer career (Please use the career paths of Frank Hassell and Gerald Lee). You are at a major crossroad, and I truly hope you use this as a platform to reinvent yourself. If you do, you will look back at all of your past coaches & teammates as people who continuously tried to make you a better player/person, as opposed to just speed bump/road blocks hindering your success.

That was the one. I don't know if he was Freshman of the Year, but he did play for UNCG, transferred here, lasted a couple of weeks, and disappeared.
