Lots of 3 pt shooting teams think they can shred the zone...few actually do it.
I'll never understand how a team can be so good shooting threes and not be a great FT shooting team.

Congrats MTSU...now do the right thing and lose on Sunday.
Congrats MTSU. My bracket doesn't care if you crash the Elite 8 now.

Confidence is key, and we've got a lot of it right now. The important thing to note is we have the very best three point shooter in America, Giddy Potts. He shoots over 50% from three, #1 in nation in percent made. The rest of the team can all shoot and make threes too. I think every one of our starters made one today, at least 4 of 5 did. That's a deep, zone-friendly team. I like the matchup.

Boeheim's zone stretches the half court to beyond the 3-point line. If you don't have a strong inside game, the zone actually stretches more. Plus, if you don't have a strong inside game, you are going to give up the offensive rebound, Syracuse will make you pay for it.

MTSU's Potts looks like a real factor for MTSU...just the type of player that gives us fits

Luckily we have a fairly strong inside game. We have three stretch forwards who can step out and hit the three. I wonder if that combo will be a good one against the Cuse defense. I have a feeling we'll be ready for it, and if we aren't Kermit is one of the best in the business at getting the team to adjust in a hurry.

Not sure if I can make the game Sunday but I will try (couldn't go due to family medical issues today). It would be great to see some Cuse friends there.

Leave it to Pitt to blow the win streak. At least they are consistent, you can always count on them to bow out early.

The thing is, I left to go to dinner with my wife with about 8 minutes left in the first half of the game with Pitt just manhandling Wisky. They were beating them to the ball and keeping Wisky from scoring and Pitt doubled their points. I just assumed that Pitt was going to win the game because Wisky didn't look like they were ready for Pitts pressure. I come home and find they lost. I was very frustrated.

Round 1 ended with a half court buzzer beater as N Iowa beat Texas & with a Cincinnati dunk that was about 0.1 second late.

Jesperson, who hit the half court shot for UNI is a former UVa player.

If they play like they did against the Spartans, MTSU will give my Orange all they can handle. At certain points in that game, I was actually debating whether or not we would be better off with a Michigan State win.
Congrats. But you will understand that I have only one team to root for in this tourney, while you have two. So it's only fair that if Miami wins tomorrow you let us beat the Blue Raiders on Sunday.

Haha, always a pleasure to hear from you. Two things to say - one; I don't think Canes will win tomorrow. WSU is good and clicking and Miami is not. I have a bad feeling about that one... So then MT can certainly beat Syracuse, yes? Two; if the Raiders do beat Syracuse you can join our bandwagon fan base no questions asked and keep on rooting for someone with a good chance to do some great things and if MT does lose at least it would be to an ACC team. That would be the least bad negative outcome at least for me.
Can't wait for the game. Have lots of family who went to Cuse and are big fans, so this will be for all the marbles in my fam! I am still working the details but I hope to see Cuse friends in STL if I can in fact make it work with my schedule for Sunday.
