His Highschool stats prove he has ability to throw. Name one Quarterback that doesn't need to work on their mechanics. I'll wait. You have to practice to get good. Let him practice before we prejudge. We'll find out very soon if he's not a quarterback.

Good points. I think the one thing agreed on regardless of Halls future prospects it will take at the very least spring plus a redshirt year to reach a desired potential if at all there. I honestly hate the idea of a true freshman qb. Traditionally it has ruined many good prospects, not all but enough to second quests the decision. Even redshirt freshmen.

If I were a coach (granted I am not) and with my limited experience I would aim for my qbs to be ready for the light by their sophomore season.

Hall hasn't even set foot on campus yet so I'm not ready to make any judgements on his long term outlook. Let him get acclimated and see how he progresses. If our program has shown anything it's that we can develop players. Look at all the walkons who've become all-MAC.

Also, I watched some of that allstar game and it was a cluster****. Nobody knew the plays and Hall was running for his life on every down. I wouldn't take much from that game other than that he's very athletic and has great elusiveness.

Yea I believe they had like 3 days to get ready and work things out with the rest of the players. Not really a recipe for success.

I'm excited about Hall but don't forget about Anthony Thompson. Both athletes could be great.

Jordan Rowell from IC and Soragham TE recruit from Detroit area have put back on their twitter accounts that they are NIU commits. Hope that stays true for both.

I honestly thought Rowell would be a goner by now for sure. Fact he put it back up so late in the process is a good sign. Although regrettably every year we loose one of our prized recruits so late...on the flip side we tend to always grab at least two kids we had no idea we were even recruiting. Both an exciting and stressful time.

Regardless of rival rating and basically based off highlights and physical qualities of these kids I feel this will be one of the better classes in a while. Excited for (sleepers) like Kramer, Nixon Denton and Lorbek. If we can hold onto and develop them along with Ben Leroy and jucos we could have a seriously dominant dline. Once we have depth on the inside with size it will make those speed rushers on the end far more effective. Really last time the line averaged around 280 was 2012 and before that prob around 250. I like Thomas and Lee but they're stalemate players not really penetration guys. We get size with that first explosive step the defense is entirely different (the difference this year between ours and toledos dl).

On defense I think Denton could be great in our system given some size. Great first step. Nixon, Lorbek Rowell (who I can almost guarantee will be a lb) are all great examples of top tier guys if 10 lbs bigger or two inches taller.

Then on offense with Richie, Nettles (who reminds me to the T of Spann), kid from dekalb, hopefully weiman and those massive lineman the offense looks just as exciting. Although I think this is a defense rich class.

As much as there's similarities to other classes this one seems to go a bit of a different direction. Might just be what's available but other than a couple speed rushers all these kids are huge. NIUs made its name from undersized talent on both side but many could hypothetical walk right in, play right away and still be considered massive.

Slight change of philosophy or just the best available?

Sorry for the long and possibly out of place post but those is my second favorite time of the year long college football season.

More juice from those inside sources and twitter masters, please...

Soragham is one recruit I am anxious to have on cpus. Wish he was a mid year.

Beleive there has been a change in our recruiting philosophy and is attributed to the change in assistants last year. We are recruiting LENGTH across the board. Physically probably the tallest class we have ever recruited
I really like this class if it can hold.

Doubt they really want him if they waited to last few weeks. Sounds like they trying to add depth to class and others weren't accepting purdue offers so they had space.

New article on Rodney Hall. Also says he had a late offer from a PAC-12 school.

Harnish was a redshirt freshman in 2008. There were lots of people advocating burning the redshirt when 2007 became a dumpster fire "to see what he could do". Well, he obviously was just barely ready in 2008 after even a year on campus and not even close to being what he would one day be.

QBs and O-linemen need the redshirt year more than anyone. Other positions can hit the ground running better. Now, Hall being here for spring ball does change things a little bit, I grant you, but if Maddie is back next year, he should be considered the guy.

Apologies if I misunderstood your post, which I took to mean you hope Hall wins the job in 2017. I hope he makes it a hard decision, but I don't see any way that Maddie wouldn't be the obvious starter (assuming he comes back).

Looks like Graham is the odd man out. I can see Maddie/Santa in 2017 and then Santa/Hall go at it in 2018.

Yes sorry, I should have cleared it up. I hope he's able to win the job his RS freshmen year like Harnish did.
