Joel Osteen and the prosperity doctrine need to disappear along with liberation theology.

Who is this Fineman idiot? He doesn't understand Lakewood at all.
I don't know that the main church 4 miles from downtown Houston inside the Loop in Greenway Plaza (one of Houston's 4 "downtown" areas-the technical term is "major activity center") is particularly suburban.
Osteen is not fundamentalist. He is something entirely different.
Lakewood is unusual in that it has always been a very diverse church.

I don't know why the liberal media feel such urge to make themselves look like idiots by writing about things they know nothing about.

Agree.

Most of the libs don't know jack from jill when it comes to religion but that doesn't stop them from looking stupid by giving opinions that have no truth.

my thoughts exactly! I stopped reading after the writer said that it was a suburban church. I didnt know the inner loop was a suburb of Houston.

I agree. It's a pretty insidious doctrine. I consider a lot of these preachers to be predators. I've got nothing for them.

This

Those who carefully read and study their bible knows this man does not preach the Gospel or Paul's books.

We are not here to get rich and seek earthly delights. Our entire purpose today is to give up those things, spread the Gospel and live for HIM, and He rewards us with HEAVENLY riches and delights.

Heavenly delights > Earthly delights

And they last FOREVER, not for a few measly decades.

He's got them fooled as much as Trump has his supporters fooled. They think they're hearing gospel from Osteen but they're hearing "show me the money".

Osteen has the perfect church for Tramp. Neither knows the Bible.

Two Corinthians went into a bar...

yep

Christians today are seeking words and doctrines that they are comfortable with, instead of studying and seeking the will of our Lord.

This is the era of the Church of Laodicean in Rev 2. The final and apostate church age.

Its frustrating because so many Christians didn't even have access to a bible for almost 1500 years. Now we have a million bibles and the internet at out fingertips and no one is bothering to take advantage and use it.

The average joe on the street can read and study the bible on a advanced to master level now with the help of google. It gives us instant links to commentaries, translations, word studies, parallel verses, ancient peoples, ancient maps and cites, ect. We can learn and know more about it than almost any Christian that was ever born.

Yet most would rather watch the Oscars or the Kardashians.

RE: Huff Post thinks Osteen's church is mother church for the GOP
Its the "days of Noah" all over again. Just as Jesus predicted.

Its no coincidence. Biblical speaking, we are 6000 years (6 biblical days) since Adam. Suddenly travel, communication and access to knowledge and understanding has exploded exponentially across the face of the earth the last 150 years.

Less than 150 years ago we were on horseback and under candlelight.

150 years later.......we have instant communication across the entire globe, we can walk on the moon, we are rocketing probes past Pluto and traveling across the entire world in a matter of hours. Virtually all the collective history and knowledge of man is at our fingertips in seconds thanks to google and the internet.

I got the through the first "Sentence' and just had to wonder.. is he trying to write a fictional novel or an article? I couldn't get past that.

Osteen is one of those rip off artist preachers. I have no respect for the man, just infinite scorn.

Osteen is a rip-off artist, but from the atheist/humanist viewpoint, all preachers are rip-off artists. It makes no difference to them which one they analyze.
