04-cheers It's time for ACC teams to start winning the national championship frequently. UVa's young team is once again coming into post-season form and this weekend can likely secure the 4 seed in the ACC tournament and almost certainly one of the top 16 teams in the NCAAs which allows the Cavs to host an opening regional.

If the Cards can't bring home the title then hopefully the Cavs can repeat.

ESPN reporting that the NC State baseball coach Elliot Avent will miss this weekends series in Louisville because he was bit by a copperhead snake in his front yard. This will be his first missed game in 20 seasons at NC State.

Wow, that is nuts. I hope that he is going to be ok.

We get copperheads here in Baton Rouge. It was always fun to reach down to clean out the pool basket and touch a baby copperhead in there......

I have had to kill a bunch of them in our yard over the years. I wish that they would do something useful, like kill all of the cockroaches and fire ants around here.........

OT: when I was a little boy playing in back yard one day a copperhead struck at me (and missed). I never knew how accurate my mother was with a rifle until I saw her shoot that snake in the head from 20 yards away! I guess mothers have hidden superpowers...

Louisville inching closer to defending its ACC Atlantic title taking the series against #10 NC St. Cards look for the sweep tomorrow. Great week winning 2/3 against UNC in Chapel Hill, beating Vanderbilt in Nashville and taking the first 2 games against NCSU

Meanwhile FSU is really struggling. Their national seed chances are falling.

The Louisville baseball team opened its final series of the regular season with a 3-1 road win over Wake Forest. The victory coupled with Miami's win over Florida State Thursday night locked up the Cards' second straight ACC Atlantic Division title.

RE: Open Thread - Baseball 2016
ND baseball had a total late season collapse.

ND went 37-23, 17-13 in the ACC and earned a regional berth last year.

After 37 games this year, ND was 24-13, 9-7 in the ACC.

Things were looking pretty good with 17 games to go. What happened then?

ND went 3-14 to end up 27-27, 11-17 in the ACC. No ACC Tournament or NCAA regional this year.

Time for Mik Aoki to go. He has had his five years. Last year may have been his apex.

With an 8-5 win in the 1st game of today's DH vs. Florida State, Miami has clinched the ACC regular season crown!

UVA goes 12-3 in last half of the conf schedule after only 7-8 in first half. It secures 3 seed in acc and probably a national seed in the NCAA.

Congrats to Miami on the regular season title. The Canes finished 21-7 with UofL right behind at 22-8.

The Cards end the regular season 46-10 & #1 in the country in RPI after finishing with a 9 game winning streak and wins in 16 of their last 17.
