Records vs Top 50 and Top 100
According to Pomeroy, beating the 90th-ranked team on the road is about as difficult as beating the 50th-best team on a neutral floor, which is roughly as difficult as beating the 20th-best team on one’s home floor.

So he has come up with Tier A and Tier B games. These tiers are adjusted for home court. Tier A represents games against Top 50 quality foes, and Tier B represents games against Top 51-100 quality foes.

Here are the records of various American teams against these Tiers.

Tier A
SMU 3-3
Houston 3-3
UConn 5-6
Temple 4-7
Tulsa 3-7
Cincy 2-6
Memphis 0-7

Tier A + B
SMU 7-5
Houston 4-4
Temple 7-8
UConn 6-7
Cincy 5-8
Tulsa 5-9
Memphis 3-8

So everyone has better records against bad teams?

Uh ok

Pomeroy's point is that the RPI Nitty Gritty sheet which has a Record vs Top 50 and Record vs Top 100 categories DOES NOT take home court into account and is therefore flawed. And so he created his "location-adjusted" Tiers.

But you would know that if you read the link.

So that is it. Convincing evidence that this year Houston should get the AAC At Large if it does not win the auto bid.

Congrats.

Not really we only played 8 teams in the top 100. Temple almost doubled us up. I look at that and hope our schedule gets tougher next year.
