Sure they do (no matter what H1 says).
There is a hypothetical out there where the Big 12 implodes and B1G goes to 20.
The networks are not going to support it. The B1G is in TV talk negotiations, as everyone knows, and they will not get a dollar more for having Iowa State come into the conference. They will get more money from a TV deal with expansion into a market that the TV networks will find appealing.
I know people love to say Iowa State to the B1G, but when people do that, they never face the reality that they don't bring anything new and the TV networks will not support it, let alone them not getting voted in by the schools themselves.
Just for the record, H1 and I don't always agree what is the better move.
Well back in 2011 the big ten had talks with Iowa State, Nebraska, aTm, Kansas, and OU on joining.
Right now I don't think Iowa State can get in unless some big ten schools and maybe Kansas advocates for us getting in. Bobby Knight wanted us in when he was at Indiana too.
Yes that was the group back then. I don't remember the details at the moment, but it never got to the point of serious discussion.
On the Virginia Tech expansion forum people say Georgia Tech was ready to go with Maryland but the ACC put stop to it via the GOR. Some people say the ACC GOR is tied with an ACC Network by 2017 or it is invalid (they talk about it on that Virginia Tech expansion forum).

In a scenario where Texas and Texas Tech hit the exits for the PAC, that would make the B12 a better fit for Iowa State. Eight schools and easier to win conference championships.
Iowa State up to this point has not been screwed over, losing its historic power conference status and I don't see it happening in the future.

I don't understand why people say Iowa St to the B1G? Not a slam on Iowa State either. But that gains the B1G no new market of any real value and no new tv's for the B1G network. It just doesn't make sense. I realize Iowa St has a nice fan base but the fact is the school doesn't bring anything new to the B1G, no new state, new market of value, no new tv's for a network, etc. KU I get, OU I get, etc. No Iowa State. If the b12 collapses i don't know where Iowa State would even end up. They are Pac worthy but I don't see the Pac going that far east. They are too far north for the SEC. Probably looking at the AAC or MWC at that point, mostly due to location and lack of major market.

Its not just a market issue for Iowa State in the B1G.
Its also a competitive issue. They haven't exactly been dominant in B12 football.
If a couple more defections from the B12 like Kansas and OU would actually help Iowa State compete in the B12.
I thnk Iowa State is in a pretty good position. The schools who are not in a good position are the ones in the AAC. They've made great athletic investments but do not have a power conference to show for it and some of them when movement happens are going to get stranded.

Everyone having a place to go would make it much easier to facilitate a Big 12 collapse. Iowa State to the Big Ten makes some sense in that context, especially if it could result in Iowa being placed in a division that keeps them more in touch with the founders.
If you look at how their fans support their (generally so-so) teams, you have to be impressed.
