For most Oregonians, our income tax is 9%. One of the many benefits of living in Oregon. And just 30 miles north, they have 0 state income tax. But, their sales tax is very high. The hest option around here, is to live and work in WA, but shop in OR. Someday when I retire. LOL

In Illinois, we have income tax 3.75%, Sales Tax 8.25% - 10.25%, Property Taxes 3% - 4% of FMV of house. It is hard to compare.

We might have progress... Illinois legislators have approved a stop gap.

Most universities in the state, including NIU, will receive approximately 30 percent of last year’s appropriation. For NIU, that amounts to $26.4 million.
