I've never been less excited. The country is headed off the cliff, and the only significant difference in this field is whether we crash sooner (Bernie) or later (the rest). Nobody has any good ideas that I can see.

I will be somewhat more excited to vote for the libertarian in November. Voting for someone who has no chance excites me more than voting for any of these losers.

Usually I would hold on to the hope that after we hit the bottom, people would wake up. But I don't think this crop of Americans have the intelligence to figure it out.

(02-26-2016 07:00 PM)Owl 69/70/75 Wrote:  I voted today, for Hillary. First time ever to vote in a democrat primary. It means I punted local elections, because democrats don't even bother to field candidates here in Montgomery County. But all the republican candidates are social conservatives trying to out-Jesus each other, so that's not really a big deal. And I think stopping Bernie is far more important than the difference between any of the other candidates. Is Donald Trump really more conservative than Hillary? How do you know?

I did get to vote no on several referendums for really awful ideas; I'm sure they'll all pass, this was the democrat primary, but at least I voted no.

Interesting. I am leaning towards Hillary only because she is probable the most vetted person in the world, she believes in baby steps, and I lean towards the democrats because they are not Bible Thumpers. I recently moved to Florida and thought about registering as a Republican (closed primary state) to vote for Trump, since who knows who will win in November. Plus I do not like/trust Bush/Rubio and wanted to see them humiliated. However I tend to vote for who I want.

On referendums - unless some democratic party thing, my guess is they will be on all ballots, even those who do not choose a party ballot (that is what I just learned here in Florida)

I'm not worried about Bernie. If somehow he won, we would have still have Republican majorities in the House and likely the Senate too and they would stop him from doing much of what he wants.

Hillary is scary. She has no ethics. She has horrible judgement and doesn't realize it.

Donald is scary too.

Hillary, Donald and Marco all should watch Dirty Harry-2nd movie I believe.

I commend Owl on his vote. If Cruz wasn't in the field, I'd probably do the same thing. Take pride in canceling out one of his brain dead supporters.

The problem with Bernie is not what he would do, or get done, but how people would react. His proposals would essentially make it impossible to operate a profitable multinational based in the US. Maybe that's what he wants. I've heard his supporters say that the idea is that you have to choose to operate in the US and nowhere else, or choose to operate overseas and abandon the US. We would become North Korea, or 18th century Japan. That being the case, a lot of them are going to choose overseas. And that is going to hurt our economy big time. I'm thinking the kind of fall that Argentina has experienced over the last 100 years, from 7th most prosperous nation in the world to near third world status.

If I were the CEO of a multinational headquartered in the US, and Bernie were elected, I would get the company the hell out between November and January. Period.

And from what I hear from friends still in the tax business, there are a lot of companies making contingency plans to do exactly that.

For the record, just so I don't have to put up with any more unwarranted bullspit, I'm not a CEO of a multinational and I'm not saying that I will leave--my situation is different, and probably survivable with Bernie, although I would be watching very closely. But I am saying that I expect they will be getting everything out that they can, including themselves if the opportunity permits.

Just checked 538, Bernie is now down 40 points in South Carolina, 50 points in Georgia, and even down 8 in Massachusetts.

It is hard to drag my butt down to the community center to vote, when there is nothing to vote for, only things to vote against.

Took me 3-1/2 minutes from the time I got out of my car until I got back to the car. If that saves us from Bernie, there's nothing better that I could have done with that 3-1/2 minutes.

I will do the same thing if Sanders has a chance by the NC primary. He has to be stopped.

If Hillary sweeps the next 2-3 weeks, Bernie is pretty much dead in the water.

Friend of mine's dad is a poll worker here. He posted on Facebook about an hour ago that he had talked to him and his dad said the only reason they have had more voters come in than poll workers on duty is the fact that because of other events going on at two polling locations they combined three polling places today.

Early voting is setting records for the Republicans on Super Tuesday.

I'm guessing its Donald voters.

NC isn't a completely open primary. You can't pick a party ballot unless you are unaffiliated. If you are registered for one or the other you have to vote that ballot, so you can't try to artificially affect the other party's race. Fo must be registered as unaffiliated.

The general election is not considered a party primary and includes the nominees for all parties for all races you are eligible to vote for.

Did that really need to be explained? 03-lol

There are a lot of young kids on this board, this may be their first time voting.

and there are some that believe you can vote in multiple states for the general election. Tom is one of those who I feel could easily believe that is true and not a problem.

It is true that if you have an Obama phone, you can vote anywhere and as often as you like.

IMO Sanders never had a chance for the nomination, although he is in it for a movement to raise valid issues. I like him as a person and believe he is honest for a politician. His issue with democrats is more that he is from a homogeneous state where he never really had to make a tough political decision. Many of us do not see him as multi dimensional, even as we agree with many of his concepts. He has just been to sheltered.
