RE: Steve Forbes
So it boils down to:

Pro:
- Good coaching influences (Pearl, Marshall)
- Good results in his 3 HC years (2 in JUCO, 1 at ETSU)
- Would potentially be a good cultural fit in Memphis.

Con:
- Light track record (only 1 year D1 HC at a lower league)
- Show cause and resulting stain from UTk cookout (admittedly minor)

Is this the Reader's Digest version?

Yep...a couple of other things to just throw in would include the fact that he is very well respected in the coaching community, players LOVE the guy and he brings sort of a Dana Kirk-like x and o ability. Getting out coached here would be a thing of the past. Just throwing that out there.

I think I am on board.

I hope the search starts a little higher on the food chain, but if it stops here I could see it working.

Gotta make the big hitters say no, you're right. Personally, they probably have a pretty good idea of who they want and maybe have already put feelers out there. When the real crunch time search gets underway, they'll move quickly. That's just me though.

Kansas State just lost to Texas.

Like I already noted, Underwood is a KSU alum and former KSU assistant.

Would he take KState or us? I'm thinking KState are pretty cheap plus if he worked for Martin he probably don't like that AD either.

Funny that Tic keeps getting jobs. Maybe there's hope for Josh.

He's from there, played there & coached there. The AD is a good point, but I think he'd take that job over this one...

IMO, yes. Over Memphis at least...

I get that it's a tough job, but look at what Mark Gottfried has been able to do there. Always finished in the top half of the ACC. 4 straight NCAA tournements. 2 Sweet 16s. And recruits his tail off...

I don't think that job comes open for another year or 2 though so Archie may be gone by then...

RE: Steve Forbes
NCSU fans think they're blue blood. But they're just not. They are pretty much same level as us and about 20-40 other schools. Plus the fact that you are always going to be - at best - 3rd in your own state.

But the alum-factor would have it's appeal. I guess if Archie is going to take a job that is not blue-blood, it would be NCSU.
