Here is my take on the last 7 months. 10 stories in one... http://www.myfantasysportstalk.com/memph...-the-fall/

"This is a calculated effort by a dysfunctional staff to punish a player for taking a step to remove himself from a failing program.”

Prescient stuff.

For a so called coach you have made some idiotic assertions in the past. But you cannot be so foolish to think that they will not go with Keelon if Keelon is not retained.

Kennedy will have a job offer for Keelon before any Bowen press conference is over about going in another direction. KJ was prepared to sit out and go elsewhere this year if Keelon had taken a job someplace other than Memphis,.

Put down the bottle. Of course we'll keep lawson

If they want to go - turn them loose. I have had a bad taste in my mouth about the whole thing from the time he started pimping his sons out to the highest bidder. IMO, if he was any kind of decent basketball coach, he'd be telling Josh to pull him when he starts turning the ball over and jacking up threes early in the clock and sit his ass until he got the message about the whole "team" concept.

But I'm just a fan - what do I know....

He didn't pimp them out

Maybe insiders know this, but from my vantage point it sure looked that way. I hope they stay, but if the administration thinks we need to keep Josh to keep the Lawsons, I don't think it's worth it.

Josh is gone

What did Keelon do to make anyone think he was pimping them?

Oh, I have no problem with it - I think it is past time for Josh to go.

As for Keelon, all I hear is what small tidbits of info I hear either around here (I know - it ain't worth much...), or read in the occasional CA freebie article. And the perception it left me with was that he was taking his sons to Florida to some "academy" down there if they hired him, or he would keep them in town for the right position, but they were staying together as a family. So like I said, it left me with the impression that to get his sons, there had to be a job for him involved. Sounds like a definition of pimping to me; same business principle involved - similar outcome. Maybe I misread what these signs were telling me, and if so - sorry. I'm sure you work in the circles these guys run in and know them personally, but perceptions are all I have to go with.

{Yes, K.J. Lawson committed to Josh Pastner's Memphis Tigers last October. But Keelon Lawson indicated that would change if he lands a college job outside of Memphis.

"With loyalty to Josh, I would ask K.J., 'Would you want to stay [with Memphis] or would you want to go with me and Dedric?'" Keelon Lawson said. "But with us being a close-knit family, you know what the answer would be. He would say, 'Dad, I'm going with you.' So, of course, K.J. would go with me, and then Dedric, and then Chandler."

Translation: The school that hires Keelon Lawson will get three possible McDonald's All-Americans in a five-year span. That's the simplest way to describe this situation.}

Again, holding on to a player is probably the dumbest reason of all to keep Pastner.

My opinion is that Keelon had a lot of leverage because everyone knew last year's class was shaping up to be very weak and that Josh was probably on the hot seat already. I think the Lawsons are more likely to stay if we have a new coach than if we keep Pastner.

Yea his fault the top FT shooting tea, in league could not hit their FT

It shouldn't come down to FT's against teams like Tulane and USF. There is no defending Pastner. Worst Bball caoch at Memphis in 50 years.

Hit FT and USF is mentally out of game. Only other thing kept them in was Lawson and his turnover AGAIN. Little things keep lesser teams in game emotionally. Go into half with a 5-6 point lead and USF is pressing to get back into game. Guess it also coach's fault that Shaq shot 2-10

FT shooting, Lawson turnovers and Shaqs poor shooting. Yep

Sir, you are a fool!

If it means getting rid of Pastner....bye bye Lawsons!

I would rather start from scratch than deal with this idiocy any longer.

Winning is hard against teams with 6-21 teams like south florida. They have good players running good stuff with a good coach. Same can be said for our in-city rival CBU !!! It's not a birthright to just assume we can beat these teams.
