WIU. Easy win, don't care if anyone goes.

Really? Because that game is a sellout as it is at Huskie Stadium.

I don't care about that. I don't want to play a schedulepalooza game at the Cell, and conference games should be at home.

You mean those conference games where 12k people show up on a Saturday if we are lucky?

exactly. plus the stadium isn't free. so we NEED a game people will go to.

I bet its going to be super cheap with Yordon now running the Cell.

Next year was supposed to be the beginning of building a better culture with scheduling, yes SDSU is not a great opponent, but a respectable non-conf opponent at home. It takes successive years of good scheduling to build a season ticket fanbase and this was step 1. If this is SDSU that is classic and low and dirty bait and switch, and Frazier should apologize to all NIU fans.

The home schedule this year is built for 1 thing alone...wins. Its not going to get anyone excited so SF is trying to play up the Chicago connection.

I don't give a crap how many people show up, I want to win. The cell takes away home field advantage. That would be some BS for a conference game. It's not the teams fault that our fanbase sucks. But they should play conference games where they are most comfortable. WIU is the ONLY game that makes sense.

RE: NIU *US Cellular Field
As an out of state alum I always liked the Soldier Field games because it gave my wife and me an excuse to spend a weekend mini vacation in Chicago.

That said, I have always believed that NIU has to be strategic about the opponents they choose and up until now we have been. Frankly I do not see any games on next year's schedule that would be a good fit.

While I am at it I also have to say that I far prefer Soldier Field to the Cell as a venue for a football game.

And the more I think about it , this is LOSE/LOSE non-conf or conf. We need people at NIU that care about the athletic program growing, its as simple as that.

WIU is the ONLY team that will bring at least 500+ fans. No one else on the schedule will bring more than 100-150 fans. No one in Chicagoland area cares about San Diego St and one of the November weekday games would be awful for attendance.

I really hope this is WIU and not SDSU. That just brings Frazier to an ethical low to promise NIU fans about an improved schedule and make a freaking promotion out of it, and then switch it up. I am still holding out hope he wont do that.

The White Sox are on the road both 9/17 & 9/24, which is when the SDSU & WIU games are scheduled, tentatively per fbsschedules.

But if I'm the White Sox, I don't want any other sport or activity using the field while the season's going on (see what happened when AC/DC played at Wrigley last August), so that's why I think it'll be a conference game there.

Anyone you slice this is a no-win situation for NIU, maybe the NIU athletic department should start bargaining with Iran, this sounds familiar.

Ya WIU is the only game that makes some sense to have a decent attendance...HOWEVER is 2 days enough time to fix the field for the SOX to return from a long road trip?

Considering our low home attendance, there is not much downside to holding a game at the Cell. Probably slightly higher ticket price to offset revenue if in fact attendance is lower than a regular home game. And we don't have that large of a fan base to piss off if they don't like using a home game at the Cell. I'm indifferent.

I'm overall indifferent with this decision to play a game at Comiskey (I will always call it that). It can either be a big success or huge failure depending on the opponent. I do see why Frazier would do this though as this is something new that no other school in the Chicago area has done. It will definitely bring some additional media coverage to it.

There is a reason NIU's attendance is low, its because no one of note has stepped into Huskie Stadium for over a decade. This only reinforces that if its SDSU. Plus if it is SDSU, I would recommend no one buy tickets with the assumption they will eventually see BC, Utah, or BYU in Huskie Stadium. I really trust Frazier would not sink to this all time low. The more I think about it, given its a lose lose situation, I hope it is a conference game. It will probably cost NIU a conference title, but right now getting butts in seats might even be more important and that can only be done through improved HOME scheduling. Home as in not some stadium 90 miles away where ticket prices are 80 dollars, home as in DEKALB

Will be @Cell in November after baseball. Toledo. Busses for students. Midweek game at night.

That's what Im afraid of, the fact NIU has 2000 max show up will really put an unnecessary black eye on things. Is there any chance Wyoming could be cancelled? This just makes no sense given NIU's current schedule. Like someone said, no game makes sense to hold this game.

Well at least that only costs us a division title

No kidding. This is not Frazier declaring thermonuclear war on the fan base. People need to relax.

2014 Home attendance vs. Toledo - 8,462

What are we crying about? I'm perfectly fine with trying something new.
