More attention is being paid to defense especially after the way the Denver defense won the Superbowl. Even with the depth of DL players in this year draft, Vernon Butler might go in the first round.

My CUSA prediction is that Driskel gets drafted before Doughty.

There has been some criticism of the NFL that Byard wasn't invited to the combine particularly after emerging as the best safety at the Senior Bowl.

If true, that's a pretty bad error on the part of the marketing team or whoever posted the graphic about him getting invited.

listed at 6-1 (best guess is 5-11) is not nfl combine stature....

having said that, it is in the slot....and that guy is one tough motherfkr with hands of gold....

he'll make it...it's just going to be a bit tougher hoe road....

Thoughts: Apparently Byard’s 19 career interceptions and star performance against Alabama this past season weren’t enough to get the safety a combine invite, which may go down as the biggest snub of the combine. the sit down character evaluation means much more......the combine 'measurable' is nothing more than showtime for most...

if one doesn't think game film and character doesn't mean more, they are fooling themselves....

the only thing that spotlight provides is how they perform when the next level becomes the requirement...

e.g....jamie collins may have not been drafted 52 overall unless his athleticism was displayed in a measurable....maybe he drops to 70....the invite weeds out the skill set teams are looking for....

that's all it is....showtime opportuniy....

and if your body type and style doesn't fit the nfl....well, you have to work harder and figure out how to get them to notice....
