We have a pretty good deal. Just show up and play no upkeep costs
10k is an easy attendance number if a quality product is being put on the court
We didn't have 10k the first year that we played in the Forum.

RE: Forum Lease
With no official numbers being made available from the U of M or the Grizzlies, per-game media estimates have ranged from 6,000 to 7,500.
If the turnstile count averages more than 6,000 per game, but is less than 10,000 per game, the $800,000 payment "shall be reduced for such Basketball Season in direct proportion to the shortfall," according to the contract. Also, if the turnstile count dips below an average of 6,000 per game for two consecutive seasons, the Grizzlies would have the authority to terminate the agreement.

they would never terminate it, but they would certainly use it as outstanding leverage in a renegotiation.

That year actual butts in the seats was used instead of announced attendance.

Not with the roster I think we're going to have.

every year is. Part of the problem early on is that the count was done manually by ticket stubs collected at the gates. Very poor method and easily manipulated.

It should be easier now with the scanners. Of course all the All Access passes don't get scanned.

So we're homeless with another year or two of this?

Sounds to me that Pastner is going nowhere for the next couple of years.

Well if he's trying to negotiate another number then he figures the attendance is going to drop again. But who knows.

Exactly. This is just another way to show how Pastner's lack of success is costing the program money. Attendance would increase substantially with a coaching change (unless it's a completely idiotic hire).

RE: Forum Lease
Is anyone else concerned about what seems to be a lack of Public Relations by our Athletic Department?
There was the whole Austin Nichols deal
Now Bowen just sounds crazy. Chris Wallace would not be the one negotiating on the FedexForum's behalf.
How does the school not have attendance numbers and how does the school not know how much they were paid last year?

Maybe you aren't supposed to know everything.
