i would
No one has ever confirmed Huff is leaving
He's still enrolled at NIU, HOWEVER, he is not on the team.
Bummer. One of the freshmen from last year is going to have to step up big time.

RE: Landon Root
Maybe Huff will cool off and come back this summer. Probably not but you can always hope. In terms of raw talent I think he's up with the best that ever came through here. It's probably frustrating to him that he has to split carries with so many other good backs on this team. That's a crowded room for sure. The thing is this might be the best situation for him. He could win the job and be the primary guy here the next two years, he has that kind of talent. If he decides to move on then thanks for everything, especially the WMU game, and best of luck. But like I said, it might be hard to find a better situation than right here.

I could see him going back to Alabama and playing FCS.

In terms of just running, he looks better than anyone else I saw play this past year. Easily. So he probably is frustrated with the playing time. Disappointing that it hasn't worked out for him thus far. Coulda been a contender.

He also seems like kind of a head case. Could have something to do with it.

On Huff, if he was going to head somewhere else...why wouldn't he go now? So he could get through spring practice, etc. at another school (whether that's FCS or whatever). Maybe he's just done with football?

Something to do with scholarships and not wanting to pay for a semester of school somewhere else maybe?

No. $$$ would not be an issue. FBS school's would put him on $$$. He has talent.

And if he's not on the football team, I assume he doesn't get his scholarship, right?

He most likely wouldn't go FBS because then he'd only have one year of eligibility. If he leaves he goes to FCS if he still wants to play football.

Or has been speculated earlier, he may be done with FB and just wants to graduate. We don't know.

Considering that he says "hang up my cleats and end my football career", I can't understand why there is any speculation.
