Mike Norvell don't give ****. He wants his players no matter who they are committed to or offered from.

Fuente is a great coach, but he really doesn't like the recruiting aspect of his job. I see him in the NFL one day.

Va Tech recruiting through the years...
2012 - 21
2013 - 21
2014 - 27
2015 - 29
2016 - 41

Of course, the 2016 class isn't done yet but it's not looking very good.

That's my point, the other 4 classes weren't great either.

RE: Meanwhile in Hokie nation
He was on XM around 12:30 pm (EST) this afternoon and claimed "no surprises". Part of the call discussed the NFL forecast for Paxton.

Regarding recruiting in Tidewater "the 757" recruiting (Norfolk, Newport News, VA Beach), the 2017 class will be a barometer. He's vocally made it a priority and visited a lot in December and January. Posted this just after leaving us. I thought I would be "Go Coach!" more than I am with him at VT. But my attitude has been ... "He's no longer our coach, thus N/A."

VT don't play in the AAC doe.

They're in the Coastal division of the ACC, so they basically play in the American though.

That's my point, the other 4 classes weren't great either.

It's all relative.

Certainly, dropping from the top 20% of all FBS teams to the 40's isn't good.

More importantly, among conference foes, their recruiting has been
2012: 4th
2013: 4th
2014: 5th
2015: 3rd
2016: 9th

That's where ya feel the Bern.

That's where UTk is in a bind.

As of now, they are 14th NATIONALLY in recruiting, but still 7th in the SEC.

This ain't the AAC it's the ACC. The coaching is a lot better and fuente is a heck of a coach but if the talent at other schools are much better he could be in trouble

Didn't seem to bother Mike Norvell.

Lets be honest.
VT would not be happy stealing some of Memphis's top recruits.
Memphis would be happy stealing some of ASU middle tier recruits.

JF jumped into another level. I hope he is very successful because he turned a dumpster fire, national embarrassment of a program into a top 25 team. For that, I will be forever thankful for him coming to Memphis.

Say what you want, but right now, Virginia Tech fans are not happy with their new coach. Meanwhile, Memphis fans are ecstatic with theirs.

Vpi is more of a lateral move than people care to admit. Havent been relevant in 10-15 years. A middle of the pack acc school in the boonies a hard place to recruit. Fuente stepped into a mess with bud foster fans breathing down his neck

Time will tell.

Fuentes class is 8th in the acc behind pitt, unc and even duke. Count notre dame and they are 9th

Not good

They won their conference last in 2010 and went to 3 Orange Bowls in four years in the past decade.

VTech is no lateral move for Fuente, that's ridiculous.

The past four years they were 29-23 and 18-18 in the ACC.

It will be interesting to see what they become under Fuente.

It seems that the ascension of Clemson has had an impact on VPI to some extent.
They have a decent amount of players returning, but only a couple are all-conference type performers.

The UTk game in Bristol will be one helluva measuring stick.
