I don't feel the least bit bad about how that game ended. We outplayed them and got the short end of the stick on the officiating the entire way, except the end. Besides what Marshall fans would have you think, the game was not decided on one missed fell at the end of play.

Baxters earned his minutes, as well as Mehinti, and we know what they bring to the table. However, Williams brings defense in addition to an exponentially better offensive game. He needs to play a lot, more than he is now.

How in the world was Baxter such a prolific score at his former school?

Really !!! Maybe we should show up with the fan sportsmanship award and give Marshall a victory today.

In 1985 we had a 22 point second half lead with 10 minutes to go in the semis of the Sun belt tourney . VCU turned the game into tackle basketball and we lost . It was one of the most frustrating things I've even witnessed. The referees still owe us another Conference tourney title and 3 spots in seeding in the tourney.

We got screwed in the foul column for the past two games. Marshall had two guys that spent more time on the floor than the logo .

Johnson for WKU cleared out our thin big men for topper layups all night. Madison established position and Loop made a face and flopped, taking possessions away from us today.

You guys all saw Nick go down in the slick spot at WKU while driving for a layup to tie the game. Do you think the Toppers are going call and say "Dude, sorry about the sweaty spot, lets replay it"???

Basketball is a contact sport. Tosin got arm, hand and ball. If you think it should have been called, then consider it a makeup call on the previous 15 drives Taylor had where he bumped our defender out of the way with no call.

+1

This and he gets no steals, got lit up by a good college scorer, and slows the offense.

Y'all know we play 10 guys, right ?

I could have sworn we won today. One day UAB will win the national championship and Blazertalk will be griping about how we played.

Marshall seems very content to trade baskets with anyone. We abused them in the paint in the first half but let them nearly even it up in the second half. I would have to watch the game again to dre what changed but clearly this is something we can exploit in the return game. They're going to hit their 3s but points in the paint shouldn't even be close next time.

We had another late game collapse today :(. It'd be nice to see us close a game out well when we have a double dogg lead...

RE: UAB @ Marshall Game Thread 1/30/16
It is what it is. I hate that it ended that way because it overshadowed what really got the W: UAB played Marshall's game a little better than they did today. Arguing over officiating is as much a waste of time. It's just another what if on top of the rest in the game. Not saying everyone should get over it. No one should be content with officiating that poor, but cherry picking doesn't do anything for anyone. That reach in should have been called as much as the foul on Brown should have been called. That earlier charge call on Norton shouldn't have been called the same way that jump ball earlier in the game should have been two points for Marshall. We didn't win and Marshall didn't lose simply because Mehenti didn't get called for a reach in, but much of the discussion would seem to reflect that.

Also, I don't think Baxter is bad at all. Sometimes contributions don't really appear in the stat sheet and he's one of those kind of players more often than not. He plays hard.

It'll show up at home, and maybe even in the tourney. Our conference foes complain incessantly about UAB for some reason, I don't get it.

But why is the fan discussion always negative about what they are doing wrong especially For a team that has won 15 of 16.

Alsoi im willing to give up Baxter's defense for Williams and Watts's ball handling on offense.

I spent the whole day at a wrestling tournament in an area of Alabama with no cell service and no internet service having to drive a mile from the facility to check the score of the game. So, on my final trek I find out we won and it may have been controversial, but I am extremely happy tp have the team bounce back. Only to get home and check Blazertalk to see people bitchin' about the game. Gee, can't some of you just enjoy a close win that this team would have lost last year. WE WON...ACCEPT IT, DAMMIT!!!!!

RE: UAB @ Marshall Game Thread 1/30/16
Winning both games on this trip would have been great for obvious reasons but this was undoubtedly the game UAB needed to win the most. Perhaps if they didn't drop the game on Thurs they wouldn't have come out with the same level of focus as they did today, who knows. As for the negative comments made on this thread or any thread post win, I can only speak for myself but I think it is fair of us as fans to critique the team after a game whether it's a win or loss. Coaches do the same thing. I appreciate what the Blazers are doing this year and it has been fun to watch but I think most who have been following the team all season know that it hasn't all quite clicked yet. They've been close several times but it's the little lapses, like we saw at the end of the game today, that if cleaned up will take this team to a different level. Once this team fully realizes their potential they will be head and shoulders above every other team in this league I believe.

Wait. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that you were disconnected that long. 03-wink

Let us not dwell on the majority of the game being controversial but instead dwell on the last 7 seconds.

He has his opinion and you have yours. There is room for both. I actually admire the way Answer points out our shortcomings after a victory. It would be easy to do it after a loss. Trust me we all are thrilled to come out with a road win. We also realize that while 15 of 16 is impressive most of those teams aren't exactly stellar. That shouldn't upset anyone on here considering that almost all have constantly stated that this conference sucks. Again I will say any road win is an accomplishment (as well as a 18-4 record) and our goal should be to continue to get better.
