Best two are Bishop & Smith; both made first-team All-MAC and were on NFL rosters.

Kenny Golladay
Faustin wasn't half bad same for Demetrius Stone

Not necessarily big names but productive. Golladay is a star, though. Ben Compton was also pretty productive.

Ken Bishop

Wow can't believe I forgot big Ken. One of my favorite players to watch at NIU. Monster against Kent State. He's actually my roommates favorite NIU player ever. Big whiff on my part, thanks.

More so talking about all the high profile guys we make threads about. There's been hundreds through the years.

Since I'm not very knowledgeable on the process, and assuming he comes to NIU...

when would he have to officially be on the team in order for this next year to count towards his sitting out a year?

As long as he enrolls in the University by next fall(2016) he will be eligible to play fall(2017).

Just doing some digging on twitter I found he has recently followed almost all of the current NIU staff and they are following him as well. Not to read to much into it, however, anytime the verified NIU Football account on twitter follows a player, they are either committed, signed, or has a good chance in coming to NIU.

...right?

Yes, unless things have changed since Cameron Bell's time at NIU.

Bell played his first two years at Iowa State, then transferred and sat out 2009, which I believe counted as his red-shirt season. Then he played in 2010 & 2011.

RE: Seth Collins
If this is true, then Coach Carey has put some work into upgrading the quarterback position going forward.

The QB situation for the next 2 years appears to be the following:

2016
Hare (RS SR)
Maddie (RS SR)
Graham (RS SO)
Fiedler (SO)
Santacaterina (RS FR)
Collins, Thompson & Childers all sit a year

2017
Graham (RS JR)
Fiedler (JR)
Collins (RS SO)
Santacaterina (RS SO)
Thompson (RS FR)
Childers (RS FR)

*Now updated to include Young Santa.

QB situation after Hare went from average at best to above IMO. He will be a game changer in the MAC.
