yep Cal is going to to take care of his guys
Folklore that has been disproven. Cal will take care of Barbee and Kellogg and Antigua and Robic. The rest are really not his guys. (See Roccaforte and Strickland.)
See Strickland who went from Memphis to Kentucky with Cal then got a promotion to a better asst job under Antigua wonder who set that up.... Buzz is taking care of Roccaforte

If he takes another gig, while still under contract with us, said school is on the hook for a portion of the buyout. If he leaves, he ain't coaching anytime soon.
That statement is incorrect. The buyout is on Coach Pastner, the future employer may or may not offer to pay that buyout. For instance, Fuente's buyout was paid by Va Tech, but Fuente was personally responsible for that. Bob Shoop, the former DC at Penn St had an 800k buyout and TN did not choose to pay that and it fell back on Shoop to pay PSU.

RE: Deducting the opportunity cost from the 10Mil?
27$ million for Pearl, someone did the math in the other thread. It's absurd considering at one point he wanted to come here. If Josh was to leave, we wouldn't be able to afford anyone worth a damn without taking another chance and have the next 4-5 years up in the air even more so than him staying.
I am all for him going but either way, the team has been set back a considerate amount and is going to be hard to recover.

Cal told Josh that he has a spot on his bench at UK if Memphis doesn't work out for him.
That's one of Cal's stories he likes to spin. Probably said it, too. Doesn't mean he meant it then - and sure not now. Who do you think he's going to fire to make room for Josh?

Why would Cal need Josh to do anything but video a practice now?

Strickland was promised an assistant job with Cal. He got it for 1 year. Then other options became available (Kenny Payne), and he was shuffled off the staff into admin again. So if you consider an admin job, then sure, Cal gave it to Strickland and I'm sure he could come up with one for CJP.
As for Rocc, when he was canned at Lamar, it wasn't Cal who brought him in. It was Stan Heath.
As I've said - Pastner will land on his feet. He will get lower level HC offers and high level AC offers. But it won't be Cal taking care of him.

Or, perhaps, Tucson, Phoenix, Houston. Just throwing out his other connections. Maybe not Tucson, they have more sense/ego than that with Miller around.

I just hope this mess isn't affecting our indoor practice facility giving.

Not that it really matters, but Strickland was an Assistant Coach during Cal's first year at UKL. He was demoted the second year to make room for Payne.

Breaking ground after spring practice
Basketball funds have been used to cover football deficits to the tune of over $50 million in past 20 years. Our FB program would probably be 1AA if not for that.

Breaking ground as in pouring footings or just ceremonial breaking wind with Bob Winn handing out hard hats and shovels?
