"Not inevitable"
Calkins talked to a booster today who said Pastner getting fired is not inevitable.

I disagree. Fan apathy is getting more and more intense.

Not inevitable, no, but the sentiment to get rid of Pastner now seems close to universal.

The media's really pushing it.

$10,000,000 will be lost in ticket sales alone next season if he isn't
5,000 people more don't spend $2,000, there's your $10,000,000.

Never forget that the days of media as self appointed watchdogs and purveyors of truth are over. Their job is to out sensationalize, stir up, and do whatever it takes to get listeners, eyeballs, clicks, etc.

Calkins today said if he had to pick the turning point in the past 7 years, it was the insanely bad game against UConn in the conference tourney at Memphis.

That was one of the two Tigers games I've seen in the past two years, and he's right. For those who were there, you know the air went out of that building in a collective funk.

Oh, and the other game I saw was Wichita State six months later, enough said, and completely embarrassing.

Because he is a columnist...

Buyout vs. ticket sales are two different pots of money.

It's never over until its actually over. Watch them play balls out the rest of the way, get in the NCAAs and go long.

It's not likely, but hey, no one here would complain about his saving his job if it came attached with a big tourney run.

I don't disagree with you, but I guess my point is that they're doing it now as opposed to the end of last season for example. There just seems to be a public consensus about what was maybe in the past just expressed privately.

I don't think they're just out to get him for no reason. You've got lousy recruiting, slacking fan support, and the triggering event--the loss to ECU.

It's like everyone finally reached the point where most agreed the emperor has no clothes.

I don't take any fun in saying that because Josh is a good person who deserves some respect.

Remember the UT team a couple of years ago that got the right matchups and made the elite 8.

Not probable.. but

This is what we should all be rooting for. If that happens he can Cuonzo out of here and saving the 10.6 million might mean we could afford Pearl.

I hope they go to the sweet 16 and Pastner leaves us for another school...

I just don't believe he will ever get it.

I said we'd be lucky to win 13 games. We MIGHT get there or just a tad over...but not much.
