Yep. I'd feel the same if we lost 8 games by a combined 8 points. ODU isn't the first team that doesn't know how to finish. You just have to win these home games.
Then I look at JMU, a hoops program that probably has been jealous of ODU for some time and see that they beat Marshall this year--twice already. Wow. I'm not sure if we played them 3 more times, we have enough to keep it as close as we did on Saturday.

Evidently, they beat them before they had Kelly, or whatever 6-8 250 pound guy hit those 3s the other day

It was Jon Elmore who didn't play against JMU.

Don't worry about. JJ had it under control.

Why are almost all our players bean poles? Seems almost every team we play has thicker, more muscular players.

I've wondered the same...
Im sick of the feel good posts. We're 10-10. Who gives a damn about how many points the losses come by really? Its a LOSS.

Makes us wonder... Remember when the team summer workouts picture was posted where all the players posed with their shirts off outside of the Jim Jarrett Building? I guess that was not nearly enough for the size we're facing this season...

I think FB may disagree when talking about UNC.

Are we getting pushed around in the paint this year? That's an honest question on my part -- if that's the case, I hadn't noticed it. My recollection is that in most of our games (Purdue and Richmond excepted), we've at least held our own on the rebound stat line. But maybe I'm just not seeing something that suggests that we can't bang with bigger, stronger teams.
The concern I see is not with size and strength. It is with our less-than-competent interior scoring and with our perimeter defense.

W&M had its highest rebound total of the season vs. us.
I agree with our interior scoring being a big drawback

We don't run stuff for our big guy. It's troubling.
What would Brandan Stiths per game average be if he played for BT as an example?
My guess is more than 8 points per game.

I was at Hair of the Dog last night for dinner and I sat at the bar to watch a couple of games on the tv's. Sitting beside me was coach Corrigan so I instantly started up a conversation with him. He told me an amazing stat about the 2011 team. He said that they rebounded 58% of the shots that they took. So 58% of the time ODU was getting the ball back when they took a shot. I cannot imagine that this year's team is even remotely close to that.

I would imagine we would run some more stuff inside if we had talented offensive players down low. Stith would like average more, but is that a good thing if he's not effecient?

In 2010/11 we had an offensive rebound rate of 44% which led the country.
11/12 38%
12/13 38%
13/14 32%
14/15 35%
15/16 33% (44th in the country)
We are a better offensive rebounding team than defensive, but we are still a solid, to pretty good rebounding team. But, even despite the offensive rebounds, they aren't translating to put back points. So, are big guys really aren't skilled offensively, but unlike Blaines teams they aren't converting offensive rebounds into points either.

We may not be getting pushed around in the paint, but I can't help but see many guards on other teams that are an inch or two taller and about 20 pounds heavier than Freeman, Bacote, Caver. These guards seem to be able to drive to the basket a little better than our guys and draw fouls. Ochebo (UNCC), Kelly (Marshall) both come to mind when I think of bigger bigs. I'm sure there are more. Stith is doing a good job rebounding, for his size, I just wonder how much better he would be if he were 2 inches and 20 pounds bigger.

I still say we're not scoring on the interior because there is nothing of notable size inside alongside Stith. It's not about the number of rebounds we get, it's about how teams can defend us.
