2-5 is not acceptable in Murphy's 5th year. Most people on here are not being objective. Believe me, I wanted Murphy to leave EMU voluntarily not thru termination. This coach is fighting for his coaching job. His conference record is unacceptable. I would take Murphy and his players over Barnes, Boone and Ramsey; however, we need to consider getting another coach in there. We might be at a similar time compared to when Braun took over for Jim Boyce. Braun inherited a junior to be in Grant Long and developed him. Could be similar situation with new coach getting Thompson.

Except I and many others think Thompson will be gone after next year.

Sometimes I think you are full of it...

Until a week ago, Murphy's MAC record was .500 over 5 years - MAC coaches don't get fired for .500 records (or else half of them would be out of jobs, and that doesn't happen).

Secondly, again, let me say that even though this MAC season has been frustrating, flipping the BSU loss to a win would make the record 3 - 4 after having played the most difficult part of the MAC season...

Sometimes folks on forums act like George Steinbrenner who used to fire and re-hire Billy Martin at will.

Fourthly, you act as if the staff has failed to develop Thompson, yet he is one of the best freshmen in the country. That doesn't square up. Murphy, et al., deserve credit for getting him to EMU and developing him to date. IF I remember correctly, JT4 was not a good free throw shooter to start the season. Now he is money. Generally his skill set is much improved over the start of the season.

Fifthly, as I've mentioned, we have some really good big men sitting out. We basically lose only Naz next year and return 80% of our scoring and add talent to our front court which is very thin this year (in large measure to LWH not becoming eligible) ....

Next thread...

I don't follow the NBA.

How does JT4 project in the NBA? It is one thing to say he is a really good mid-major post player and another for him to transition to the NBA.

I saw him (and the other players) is their form fitting athletic shirts (in warm ups) that they wear under their game jerseys. JT4 is very lean. [Bond is incredibly skinny.] Does JT4 need say 25 lbs of new muscle?

BTW, I was at the game in Kent. I was very, very impressed by how hard the team played before they 'ran out of gas' in the 2nd half.

That first half was super high intensity.

I'm on the JT4 bandwagon. 17 ppg in conference play. Would that be a record for a MAC frosh? Anyone have any ideas?

Wonder if he can put on say 15 - 20 lbs of muscle during the off season? He'd be the Shaq of the MAC (remember Gary Trent of Ohio U from the 90s?).

In my opinion yes. 15-25 lbs of muscle is a must before thinking of leaving for the draft. It is the natural frame he has, rebounding ability, and fairly developed post game that will make NBA scouts drool. Even though he is putting up outrageous numbers for a freshman, he is still very raw with much room for growth especially on the defensive end.

I agree with Eagle King, JT has the natural talent but still very raw, definitely needs 10-15 pounds of strength to a prime NBA pick. Nobles needs the same 10-15 pounds and then he could be a starter down the road. For all of you that gotten the chance to see JT live at a game, its well worth it.

Actually a majority of the team has played with high intensity from the NIU game going forward, they need to keep that focus and the wins will come.

I was surprised by Lee's intensity on defense in the 1st half. He was right in front of me and you could see it.

I was REALLY wondering if the team would emotionally show up Tuesday (after Saturday's game).

I was very, very pleased by their start, intensity, etc. esp. playing on the road in another one of those courts which are very difficult for us.

Kent had a very nice crowd, tons of students, etc. etc. One end was full of students and the other end had the pep band and students adjacent to it. I was envious.

Yes, that's what consistent winning yields
