Two More USF Games May Be On TV
Published: Jul 19, 2005
NEWPORT, R.I.With the University of South Florida's season opener at Penn State already on ESPNU, the Bulls also could have two more appearances on ESPN's newest network.
ESPNU also is considering televising home games with Louisville (Sept. 24, USF's Big East opener) and West Virginia (Oct. 22). Kickoff for both games likely would remain at 7 p.m., league officials said.
In Big East bowl news, the Liberty Bowl is considering taking the Big East's No. 3 team starting in 2006 season and pairing the Big East school against a Southeastern Conference school. The Liberty Bowl's agreement with Conference USA and the Mountain West expires after this season.
The Big East is seeking a replacement for the Insight Bowl whose contract ends after this season.

Big Least #3? This would be a team at best that would be 7-4 unless your OOC becomes MAC bottom feeders and I-AA teams. Why would the Liberty Bowl want a lower quality #3 Big East team most likely from the northeast, when they could have CUSA's best (which is as good as the Big East's best)? The ACC #6 would have a better chance of taking this spot than the Big East #3.

That is no flame, just a report out of the Tampa Tribune and it concerns C-USA and the Big East.

The Big East Number 3 could very well in future years include Louisville, West Virginia or Notre Dame. It is already proven that Louisville and WVU will travel and ND is ND. Plus UConn will travel as well.
The schools that don't travel well are Syracuse and Pittsburgh.

Like it or not the top 3 choice from BE would be... ND, WV, Louisville.... or possibly pitt... 3 of those 4 travel very well.

That report is incorrect. The MWC's contract with the Liberty Bowl has already expired. C-USA's contract expires after this coming season.

Last time Big East was in the Liberty Bowl.....41 USM 7 Pitt. That is why the Big East got booted from the Liberty Bowl....and they didn't bring anybody to the game.

This reminds me of when I was a student, and would have to go out to "Marco's" pen, and clean up the Buffalo droppings. These posts are as close to that, as one could possibly get, and the Music City Bowl said, "Not interested at any price." Translated, if we can't get Notre Dame, we don't want the B/E. I believe this is exactly the impasse the B/E has with the Liberty Bowl beginning in 2006. No ND, we would rather to have C-USA. Give us Notre Dame, and we have something to talk about. In other words, a team who is not even a member of your conference in football, is truly the only desirable team of the B/E conference. Regardless, of what you say, this is the story, and were goin' to stick to it.

C-USA's best is as good as the Big East's best? The Big East has two Top 20 teams right now, one in the Top 10, and C-USA has none. Louisville finished #1 in C-USA last year, Cincinnati #2. What was the record of C-USA's "best team" last year other then Cincinnati and Louisville? If you're going to criticize people take a look in the mirror.

I don't believe anyone has played a game...How is the Big East better? Preseason rankings mean nothing...You see how overrated WVU was last year.

Memphis, UAB, USM and UC all finished 5-3 in CUSA in 2004. That means that it was a 4-way tie for 2nd place. Memphis overall record was 8-4 while UAB, USM and UC finished at 7-5.
So what was your point Cat's?
Go CUSA!
