RE: Men's Soccer
I think Belmont (in Nashville) is the only independent MSOC program so they could be a good 7th member if desired.
How about some of you guys start a field hockey team (16 or 18? womens scholarships for your Title IX concerns)? That way App doesn't have to be one of the only two independents (along with the school in Lynchburg)

When we added our 22 scholarships for FBS we didn't have to add any women's sports. If we added a men's sport now, we'd have to add a comparable women's.

I think the rest of you should start Rugby programs. That way we don't have to keep beating up on crappy SEC teams every week.

Actually I believe we are now left as the only homeless FH team.

That still leaves only 6 members for the sport.
App, GS, GaState, CCU, Howard, Hartwick.
Is this sustainable? Is there any plans for other schools to start up Men's Soccer? Seems like everyone but UT-A supports Women's soccer.
Also, wrestling. None of you southern boys support it? WTF?
Without a large f-ball squad, UTA does not "need" girls soccer as part of a counter weight for gender equality.
but if we were to restart football there will need to be some women sports added. womens golf wont be enough.
True. (However, I am pretty sure we won't need to add more girls teams (for gender balance) for the foreseeable future.).
Using that logic, can you explain why we added golf to begin with then?
I'd rather have soccer to fill a void in the fall.
Plus, when Spaniolo first said he was going to ignore the student vote on football, he said they would look into golf and
soccer right away.
There are over 300 of the 351 schools in DI who have soccer. I believe UTA is the only one in Texas without it, irrespective of football.

No, I can't explain that. I can't argue against the inconsistency of that particular fact and my belief/opinion.
Side comment: I think Spaniolo views and statements have to be pretty much tossed out.
Second side comment: very glad to see President and Mrs. K. at so many games.

I agree. I never saw President Witt at any athletic event in my time as a student. It really felt like he didn't care, though I'm assured he did.
No one could assume that about President Karbhari.

I'm old so I remember seeing Tom Vandergriff and Nederman at events. once I sat next to vandergriff at a swim meet where we mercilessly thumped ut-austin and he commented " this is pretty cool". of course we eventually dropped swimming..

The Belt could always borrow an affiliate from the WAC. Incarnate Word or Houston Baptist comes to mind.

Our 4 East Coast programs alreayd have to travel to Howard and Hartwick yearly, I imagine they wouldn't want to have to travel to Texas as well...

Couldn't hurt to have at least one Texas member. And you'd be going there anyway if UTA decides it's time.
