So next year we lose NJIT soccer. We gain CCU soccer.

That still leaves only 6 members for the sport.

App, GS, GaState, CCU, Howard, Hartwick.

Is this sustainable? Is there any plans for other schools to start up Men's Soccer? Seems like everyone but UT-A supports Women's soccer.

Also, wrestling. None of you southern boys support it? WTF?

The plan for now is to stick with 6 Men's Soccer programs. It's not terribly sustainable, but Howard and Hartwick are not exactly on the list of teams likely to get an invite anywhere. Hartwick is actually D2, so there's no risk there.

If we need another full member, chances are we look for one that supports Men's Soccer

As for Wresting, the only Wresting Southern boys support is that fake stuff.
Well I know CCU's team reached #4 this past season im not sure how the rest of the league did. It would be nice to have at least two more schools but I think they would be fine without.

It would be the biggest shock in any SBC sport if CCU doesn't win the men's soccer title.

I think uta is planning to add womens soccer but it wont happen for a year or two because they have just added womens golf team.
I don't even know if we have an intramural or club soccer team. If we were to add another men's sport, though, I'd want it to be our Lacrosse team. They've been routinely good (a top team) in the MCLA. It's an actual club team students/fans watch and follow. Made Nationals (top 16 teams) in 2012 and 2014
Maybe extend soccer only invites out to some of the other schools in the footprint? South Carolina State, Francis Marion University in South Carolina, and Delaware State all have independent soccer programs. Maybe extend invites to the two South Carolina schools?

We used to have men's soccer but we had to drop it. Wish we still had it.

I'd love for us to have men's soccer, but Title IX and the numbers make it unlikely.

As for wrestling, I had a cousin up north who did it and he explained the "oil check" and I've got no interest in that man.

Man, the Sun Belt could be really revolutionary in sponsoring (non)professional collegiate wrestling. That would be amazing.

I've been taking yoga from DDP, by the way. Any of you around Smyrna should check out his center, it's pretty awesome.

Six schools gets us a bid in the NCAA tourney so we are ok. I imagine if we need someone in case of a school dropping out then we can extend to another MEAC school. But until they ask us to join (assuming they have not) and we don't NEED another school then why bother. I know Coastal is strong in MSOC. I am guessing the MEAC schools listed above are about like Howard and the general level of MEAC sports across most every sport in DI-near the bottom, as in RPI 300+ for much of the MEAC conference. It might help keep App out of the MSOC cellar but I don't see them adding anything to the conference. Francis Marion is a DII school. I don't mind having Hartwick, as they have some tradition in MSOC, but having two DII teams is not where I would prefer to go, unless we had to do that to keep 6 teams.

Wrestling is a huge sport in NJ high schools. I went to a new HS and we won Districts our 2nd year; sending guys to States. Has been one of the stronger schools since our inception. I knew all of the guys on the team (surprising, Rev, I know) and a few from our other regional school districts' rival school...one being my cousin. I mean I grew up with these people. (Our regional HS district encompassed 7 townships and 3 HSs which was just a smidgen of the entire District I speak of in the 2nd sentence)
I loved going to those matches but I have no affinity for the crap they have on TV.
App has a great wrestling program, would be cool to have them in the sbc
Forgive me for butting in, Hartwick is actually D3. Francis Marion is D1 only for men's golf and women's soccer so they wouldn't be any help for men's soccer. Howard is the only MEAC school with men's soccer; Delaware State and South Carolina State have women's soccer so, again, not helping to add to SBC men's soccer. I also would like to see more men's soccer and wrestling teams and I'll join CatMom in supporting more lacrosse teams. I can watch lacrosse all day.

Francis Marion is DII in Peach Belt except as you noted.

Without a large f-ball squad, UTA does not "need" girls soccer as part of a counter weight for gender equality.

but if we were to restart football there will need to be some women sports added. womens golf wont be enough.

True. (However, I am pretty sure we won't need to add more girls teams (for gender balance) for the foreseeable future.).
