By the lack of attendance at the basketball games ( whole lot of empty seats), we're not much of a basketball school either.

true, but an average of 11k still are paying for their seats which makes me think an attendance turnaround next year is quite likely.

People know that they don't have to commit to a season package because there will always be seats available. If our capacity was 35-40K, we would probably sell 35-30K season tickets because people would want to make sure they can get in. As it now, you can just sit back and see how things go and not go if the weather is bad or the team goes south.

This was my wife and I this year. We had our first kiddo at the start of the season so we didn't know how many games we'd be able to make. We made the ones we could when the weather cooperated enough to take the little one.

Lol at RC always using the "around 20,000" line. We were under 5,000 when Bowen arrived. So a jump of over 10,000 is great, but if we want to be "big time" then we need to be selling 30,000 season tickets minimum.

^ I thought it was really cool that they included a "guest ticket" with each season ticket to encourage you to bring a friend to a game...

wait....attendance is higher for an average football game than it is for a basketball game? No way.

Could be the number of games, or heck, even the difference in venue and capacity.

Averaging 10,000 tickets sold puts you in the top 40 of college basketball attendance. You have to be over 14,000 to be in the top 20. Average in D1 is 4,800.

That number puts Memphis in the upper eschelon of non power conference teams. ECU and BSU are the only two (outside of BYU) that regularly sell 20,000+ season tickets. I'm not sure if ECU hit that number this year as fans were predicting 18k at the beginning of the season. Nothing to hang a head over at all.

They are doing season tickets the right way now. The 901 Club was a great thing. Extra incentives to buy are always good.

I've been wearing out the half off haircuts at Supercuts. The Tiger gear discounts are a plus as well.

They need to keep up with the 901/Hometown team angle. This is your team Memphis, every last one of you.

The discounts are nice, but most of "gear" sucks.

I see you haven't been to Tiger bookstore this year. They had tons of dark blue gear

They don't play "Dixie" on the intercom either.

No. Simply look at the theory of supply and demand that everyone likes to apply to the LB. If there are only 45,000 seats, we would sell more like 30,000 season tickets because of pressure of availability. Well.... there are only like... 19,000 seats available in the forum.

Face it. Fewer people want to go see a basketball game than a football game. It's just a fact.
