And this is it! I would bet my retirement that Franklin told Stockstill he wanted to come back and Stockstill told Faulkner he was going to be canned so he found another opportunity. I could be wrong but this lateral move by Faulkner with what he had returning to MT didn't make sense no matter what you ASU fans want to think. Faulkner was pushed outta here to make room for Franklin.

This is great news though! I'm very happy with the outcome!

That's a lot of effort for 1 coach who has 5 losing seasons in 9 years as an OC, with one league title to show for it.

We'll see if it works out for you guys.

Hey gotta do what you gotta do! And you keep saying he's had 1 league title. He's won 3 as OC... 2006-2007 with Troy and 2011 with La Tech.

I hope Faulkner works well for you guys, but I don't miss the guy.

RE: Good News Regarding MT OC
Franklin wasn't coaching against Charlotte or Georgia St. Since 2013, he was going up against Stanford, USC, Oregon, Texas, etc. When he got there, they had nothing. Now they are loaded with the 6th best total offense in the country. They won their bowl game too.

While at LaTech, they won the WAC and was runner up in 2012. They also won 9 games beating teams like Ole Miss (2011), Illinois, Houston and Virginia. Buster beat GT but who else in P5 or a good G5 team besides Marshall? When he was at Troy, he beat the crap out of Oklahoma St. They had no answer for his O. He was the reason behind the famous Gundy "I'm a man, I'm 40" speech. That was the Tuesday after that butt whippin in 07.

He was a good fit with us. We won 10 games and beat the crap out of ASU that year too. :-) He also won 2 championships with Troy. Buster has never won crap including a bowl game. Have fun. Yards don't win games. Scoring offense and taking care of the ball wins games. Franklin's offense does both. He's an upgrade over Faulkner.

We all said the same thing when Maryland hired our old OC, despite the fact he set 20 gazillion offensive records, he clearly sucked.

He'll have to develop a QB here, but the talent around that QB is probably the best we've ever had at this school, so the task isn't terribly difficult. Not to mention odds are he's tripled his chances at getting a P5 job now since our last 3 OC's are all at P5 schools.

Not surprised. Like I said on their board he is a walking disaster. If they're smart they'll can him after this year and hope to minimize the damage.

No they'll likely hang on to him. They love those hand-me-down former MT assistants after we're done with them...

RE: Good News Regarding MT OC
Besides watching Vandy get their heart ripped out and eaten in front of them like that dude in The Last Mohican on Thursday night, I haven't enjoyed watching a team get dismantled like this in a long time.

I watched every second of this game. ASU had no clue and just like Buster ball, I could easily predict where they were going with the ball play after play. The thing about Buster is the inconsistent game plan. He'll dial up a screen pass when he should go deep or pass when he should run. ASU fans ignored me. Well, they got to see it for themselves last night. The bigger issue for ASU is their D. Wow. Toledo didn't even do anything that amazing.

I loved it. :-)

This Ark State offense is horrific. Hard to believe Blake Anderson has fallen this fast as a head coach. The MTSU posters in this thread look really smart and the ASU posters not so good.

I revise my original statement. If they were smart they'd fire him tonight. Yet another pitiful performance. The really dumb thing is Chad Voytik is a great QB and good ole Buster is making him look like crap

I'm hoping ASU comes back for a couple more assistants on the Defensive side of the ball.

I had no idea Buster would have the huge impact on Arkansas State's offense that he has had...

Central Arkansas (3-1) beats Arkansas State (0-4), 28-23, for first FBS win

Went over to the ASU scout board. There is blood dripping on that board. They want their OC fired and Anderson to take over play calling.

And to think they called us all sorts of names for suggesting this would happen. Ha! Eating their crow, maybe?

The best part is they thought they stole Buster from us.
