The most significant part of the article:
The ruling allows the Big 12, the only Power Five conference with fewer than 12 members, to implement a championship game without expanding.
The Big 12 is the only Power Five conference without a conference television network, as well.
BUT......IF they had a network......AND wanted to tap the goldmine that is the Chicago market......they simply need to follow this chat room to know the answer to all their problems.....HOWEVER, they'd rather set up their own championship game which would essentially be a rematch of a game that took place anywhere from two to five weeks before. Genius leadership.

It would be great if they brought in NIU, but unfortunately I don't think NIU, U of I or Northwestern have much control of the Chicago market. I was talking to a former AD at a power five conference at a Bowl game about three weeks ago on this topic and he said that the Power Five does want large media markets but they don't have interest in adding any more schools that are in dominant pro team markets such as Chicago. I specifically asked about NIU and the MAC. He said that the leading contender due to the size of the school, their budget, facilities and media market was Central Florida due to a lack of Pro Sports. Further, Orlando and UCF have shown they can attract large crowds at games on campus and off campus at the newly renovated Citrus Bowl which just went under a massive renovation. I would think the other would be BYU.

I think both Cincinnati and Houston are ahead of BYU.
