SB Nation article talking about why Husky athletics would be good fit for the Big 12. Yes, the spelling should tip you off, the article is on UConn and there is no mention of NIU in the article or among the post-story comments as a potential member for expansion. Some of their misguided fans mention going to the B1G or ACC.

As there should be no story. NIU is not BIG12 ready. And we won't be for a long time. There's a reason why nobody besides our fans talk about us to the BIG12 lately.
We better pray the AAC saves us... more revenue and more exposure

Trust me. Me too. :(

Yes. After our recent embarrassing post-season performances, it's a miracle the MAC would still keep us.
NIU Football is the new EMU football.

I laughed out loud
i could have told you NIU was not big 12 ready 3 years ago. just because you can win does not mean you have the infrastructure in place to pull something like this off. The MAC is a perfect fit for NIU

We did see it gets ugly mighty quickly when the AAC steps outside of the conference though, what a tragic bowl season for the AAC, pretty laughable.

+1. I always thought the Big 12 discussions were nuts. But, then again, this board is filled with idiots.

Navy and Houston laughed their way past Pitt and Florida State, didn't they.

Seriously. Not to mention the MAC went 0 - 2 versus the Sun Belt... Now that's laughable.
Since Day 1, B12 talks have always leaned on whether or not they want a TV network. It's the ONLY reason why NIU would ever be considered. Doesn't matter if we're Top 10 in football for the next 5 years or bottom 10. Conference expansion is about $$$$ not competition.

And if you're going to reply about how Chicago doesn't care about NIU that also doesn't matter when it comes to making money from TV deals. AUTOMATIC FEES are a real thing and lots of people in Chicago area have a cable package. Local ad revenue may be weak but national would always be strong.

Also this isn't happening. Probably ever. But I like to use facts and not football records when it comes to B12 hopes because college athletics is a business and the old white guys like their money

Name one bowl win the MAC had that was better than the AAC wins.

Exactly, otherwise Boise would have been in the Big 12 five years ago.

Houston had a good showing..Memphis lost their coaches, Navy Won, Tulsa lost their offensive coordinators, Tulsa played a VT team that had Beamer coaching his last game, Uconn only lost by 6 to a Marshall team that beat us by 20+, USF lost to a good WKU offense, Not Sure what Cinci's or Toledo's deal was

People are buying SF plan already. I just dont see that bringing us more season ticket holders. I don't see a game against Tulane making people want to leave chicago for DeKalb.

The community outreach programe issued by SF isnt working is it. I dont think his plan for a non power 5 is going to work either.
