I'm not going to try to tell anyone how to "feel" but you're full of horsehockey if you think Justin checked out before the season and left us in any less than honorable manner. I don't care how you feel but don't expect people to not tell you your opinion is meritless.

This is getting comical. I like Coach Fuente. I never said he checked out early. I do think HOW he left, and how assistants handled it, could have been handled better. Is that okay with you?

Let's see, he left after the season was over, said very good things about us in his Blacksburg press conference, told Mike Norvell good things about us so much that he took the job, left coaches here to coach the bowl game, gave us a chance to get the new coach in place to recruit before the dead period...

I'm not sure how he could have handled leaving any better than by just not leaving at all.

Don't talk to bluecrew, RandyMc.

He's addicted to Rep points, of all things. I guess it makes him feel important.

I guess it depends on how you define "left before the season was over". In your mind, when did he "leave" and when was the season over?

Shocker, his wife sent Pax a congrats on Twitter her profile pic had him wearing a VT shirt in front of a Christmas tree and background of the stadium in Blacksburg. Really appreciate what Fu and his guys did for us but ready for them to get gone. We got a program to keep building.

Agreed. The way this bunch is leaving leaves a lot to be desired.

They haven't done anything wrong. Some people will just never be happy.

The only thing I am not happy about is the coach checking out 4 games too early.

How could Fuente left better? Calipari left the program in shambles. Justin Fuente left in an angelic way compared to Calipari. It's just the nature of college football. They handle business during the season. College football is just not an honorable sport, from the way they handle coaching hires to not making it fair for all schools to win a championship.

Yeah, that's all I was trying to say (in my defense it was 4am on New Years haha).

Fuente was trying to secure that VT job when we still had several games left. His focus wasn't here, neither were his assistants. It cost us several games. And with the coaches left helping out with the bowl game none of them were really thinking about that game. They were thinking about future plans and all that. Same with Lynch. The whole thing was a distraction and dissapointing for our players especially the seniors.

What person, who has any lick of sense, doesn't find a new job while still employed.

Fuente left us much better off in every respect.

Cal did not leave the program in shambles; just the roster. He left us with a top 10-20 PROGRAM. But the way he left by 'agonizing' over the decision in order to take as many recruits as possible to KY? Eff him.

If Cal left us with a top 20 program why did we end up with Pastner

Because of our pathetic AD at the time, who just chose the easy route once everyone on his "pocket" list said no. Actually, Pastner was not a bad choice at the time. He was a hard-working up and coming young assistant who lived and breathed BB and recruiting.

Did it cost the Houston game? Memphis was up big--obviously the team was focused to come out strong vs UH. The gameplan vs Ward was superb.

Elliot misses a kick he makes 8/10 times and the Tigers took an L to a VERY good team.

Temple? That could very well have been a by product of having nothing to play for. MANY teams drop late season games they should otherwise win when their ultimate goal has been destroyed.

Obviously, they came back vs. SMU and stomped a mudhole in them.

As for the bowl game, kinda expected.

It is completely absurd to even believe the HC of a team who has the opportunity to play in the CFP (or in a P5 bowl at the least) would "tank" or not try to accomplish that on the way out the door. Hell, it would have just meant MUCH more money and possibly an even better job opportunity.

Good lord.

I think the focus was lost after the Ole Miss game. We played like crap in the Tulsa and Tulane games as well, just had more talent to overcome it. Once we got back to playing better teams it reared its ugly head. We werent prepared at all to play Navy. But we are what we are in football which is a stepping stone job for a up and coming young coach. At least it's not a graveyard anymore. Thank the Lord the HH boys didn't get their wish for Dickey to be the head coach.
