Agree and we had already picked up a T when an earlier foul wasn't called. In conference games the CUSA officials are the ones at the bottom of the D1 barrel.

RE: Rice vs UTEP TV
No such thing as a moral victory, and certainly we didn't deserve to win with our poor shooting and and very sloppy play in the first half....but you gotta love the effort there...and boy, did we crash the board tonight-- everyone was contributing with 3 guys with 8+ rebounds. Despite their height advantage, we outrebounded them 42 - 31. That second half D was the best we've seen this year; especially the last 10 minutes of the game.

Gercy and Mencey carried us in the first half, but they stopped looking for their shots in the second half. I believe they took a combined 3 shots the final 20 minutes. They simply is not going to cut it. Also, Quez seems to have taken a stop back the past several games. We need him and Cashaw (who had an off shooting night, but contributed with rebounds and assists) to step up their game. It's obvious that Coach Rhoades thinks Mencey is the far superior defensive player at this point. Somehow we've got to get him more consistently into the offensive flow. Opposing teams are laying off him and focusing on double teaming Marcus and Egor....and will continue to do so until Bishop, Max, Connor and Quez make them pay.

Overall assessment-- tough loss, certainly disappointing, but a step in the right direction.

I disagree that we didn't deserve to win with our poor shooting. UTEP essentially shot the same percentage and given that we controlled the last 7-8 minutes of the game we deserved the chance to win the game.

A shame we couldn't get just one more shot to drop, but I can't help but feel encouraged by the effort and the comeback. I think we are improving and will earn a reputation as a dangerous comeback threat in any game.

Glad you guys got to see the finale. I caught the last 10 minutes of the game - or maybe I should say the last 8 minutes. Somehow, my MASN feed froze up at the time out at around 1:52, if I recall, and stayed locked up through the end. I didn't figure they had actually closed the gap until I looked up the play by play yesterday.

Would have loved to see that ending, even if they weren't able to pull it out.
