I read almost all Big South schools dropped you guys so I m sure getting a schedule made for next year was a challenge.

I was also wondering about that, it would be sweet if y'all could get a game at Hawaii for the guys to have something like a "bowl game"

USA did that. Unfortunately, Hawaii kicked our ass.

RE: Coastal fans-- You guys piece together a schedule for next year?
Coastal's schedule is an unusual mess with several Big South teams dropping them. It's very different from an App or GS situation when both were SOCON members, but playoff ineligible in their transition years. Coastal is officially an SBC member on July 1, but football isn't yet, meaning they are a team without a home.

From what I've read, no one is exactly sure which Big South teams will continue to play them and which won't. Apparently Furman, FAMU, Central Connecticut State, Monmouth, Charleston Southern, and Liberty are all confirmed opponents. The rest is anybody's guess. They could play multiple FBS, a D2, and even a 12th game if they want. It's all sort of up to them.

They also have a game listed @ Western Illinois in 2017 that has to be dropped. Not sure if they will try and play that this next season instead.

Can we please drop Savannah State and play CCU?

As a writer, I really don't want to have to go through the trouble of finding things to say about a 70-point win.

It's possible. There is some rearranging that could be done to ensure Coastal a game or two against SBC opponents, but the problem is not only would such a game cost more financially, it might hurt from the attendance perspective.

The Question becomes, would Georgia Southern get more people to watch Savannah, no matter how bad they are instead of Coastal?

Savannah State might bring a couple more people, but more GS fans might actually come out to a game where there would be some competition.

We should kick Western's heads in twice next year, then demand that Toledo or NIU come to Statesboro if they want to claim a MAC title.

I still haven't heard much about it. I've let coastalfans know about this forum and there are people with insider knowledge so maybe they'll head over here.

we have some recent experience with Coastal, so I think that would peak the interest a bit more in southern fans. current students won't be as familiar, but I think as word got around that they are future conference mates, that would drum up some excitement. I would much rather us play them than savannah state.

I think we would bring a nice crowd since it is close and much better competition. Plus it would let us see how we stack up against the conference.

Per a very solid inside source, the away game at Western Illinois is off of our 2017 schedule, as it should be.

At least 7 home games? That must mean we are paying for some FCS OOC money games as well.

I wonder if we'll have any FBS games next year.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Coastal does next year. Will heir jump up to the FBS help them bring in stronger recruits as early as next year? How will the stadium look next year during the middle of construction? Does attendance go up in preparation for fall of 2017? Lots of questions are out there and I'm excited to see some answers soon!

We've got a home and home coming up with UNLV ourselves. We go there for leg 2 in 2019.
