RE: USA Today rating coaching hires
It's still funny how Frost and Babers were 1 and 2 on both UCFs and Syracuses board. Knowing that, I feel comfortable with Frost over Babers. I think he'll bring in the talent UCF needs.
Beyond that, I think the writer made good points.

Can't believe Memphis gave the keys of their program to a 34 year old. That could really nose dive

RE: USA Today rating coaching hires
Babers is a home run for Syracuse. He should have them bowling again soon. However, I doubt that they can aspire to a division or conference title because of the competition in their half of the league.
The Fritz hire should be considered a home run as well. Tulane will be able to compete for titles with him at the helm.
I'm more impressed with the Norvell, Frost and Montgomerie hires in comparison to the hires at the P5 schools. Our conference landed some good, young talented coaches. None of us know how these hires will work out and they have their risks... but the potential reward is outstanding.

"Could" being your wish. Interesting that nobody in the country feels that way. What a douchemunch.

The fact that this guy had to ask why ECU got rid of McNeil shows he know very little about College Football or he is just another fanboy of Ruffin.

Everyone is asking that. McMuphy, Wolken, Feldman, Forde, Mandel, etc.
i.e. People that follow the game.

They may follow the game but I would wager a guess that they don't closely follow an individual school in a non-major conference like ECU. That is your shortcoming as well.

No...everyone is not asking that. Those of us that have been sitting in the fcking seats on Saturday know exactly why. None of these fcks did that. None of them. They are just bunch of talking heads repeating each other and creating news where there is none. Not even Bronco(who is a close friend) had faith enough in McNeil to make him DC of his team at UVA.

I'm not saying that they aren't biased toward other conferences.
I'll also add that I am biased toward the AAC. I would have been very pleased is ECU made the "upgrade" that we heard drove this move.
Let's just say we have different understandings of what "upgrade" means. An upgrade is not a roll of the dice.
Look at USF basketball for instance. When they hired Masiello, I would have called that an upgrade. His work as HC at Manhattan would have justified the hiring. Then, when they fired him over the scandal and hired Antigua, that was a roll of the dice. He was Cals boy just like Scottie Mo was Cutcliffs. Antigua hasn't done anything yet to change that perception (and neither has Cal's other disciple, Pastner).
If ECU would have hired Fritz, then I would see the method behind the madness.
Right now, I think Scottie Mo has Antigua written all over him.

Maybe...but you can't really back it up.
Babers has won as a HC at 2 schools...Frost is a golden boy OC right now.
I'll take Babers at Cuse over Frost IMHO...Frost would bolt back to Mama Nebraska or another A-List FB gig ASAP.

lol you're only saying that bc Frost turned down Cuse.
Babers stayed only 2 years at his last two stops with player/QBs he did not recruit. So yes he has HC experience but there is still risk. The most recent MAC coaches to make the jump have completely floped
I don't know how Frost will turn out at UCF but he was a better fit. He's younger and will recruit better than Babers would have at UCF. UCF is a hard place to screw up at if you can recruit as respectable level regardless of scheme

Not really Frost came with risk...when you ask for a 2 year contract (as he did with Cuse)...that means you're not serious. UCF gave him a sweetheart deal. Let's revisit in 3 years.
Babers is 54 and signed a 6 year deal with Cuse...that is showing commitment by both parties.
BL: I think both ended up at the right schools...so a win-win for both.
