This actually is a very very positive thing. This team was not ready this year for MAC contention, next year could be oh so special.

That means someone will be leaving next year or will lose their scholly. Pretty sure Bowie will be on scholly next year.

I think by next year Key and Bradley will be as good as Bowie. I guess Key could back up Maric or maybe Bowie graduates and transfer. My guess is Orris is on the team but losses his scholly. You can only have 13 on scholly and that includes red shirts.

Unless Zelis improves drastically throughout the rest of this season, his scholarship would definitely be expendable. He doesn't have an agressive bone in his body and fouls anyone that comes near him...

Agreed. He is huge, but has not looked like he belongs on a DI team.

You cant risk having Maric get hurt and not having a big body on the team. Zelis probably isn't going anywhere. Also, they have no scholly's left for next year. I don't see how Bowie can be on next years team without someone leaving or taking their scholly away and making them leave.[/i]

he will graduate this year so could go anywhere else and play right away....and, if no scholarship is made available, that might well be a possiblility

I just do not foresee Bowie doing that. To be honest, I wonder if Zelis remains at NIU

I believe that is likely what happens with Bowie. I mentioned him graduating and transferring in post #5. I would not be surprised to see him at Milwaukee next year. I do not see anyone on NIU leaving. Also the 3 freshman coming in will contribute right away. Germann and Wagner are scoring machines and Noah McCarthy will get time at forward and back up Maric.

RE: Bowie Redshirting
Key will be a stronger, quicker more experienced backup for MM next season than the new kid. And Zelis should be better with another year under his belt. Since Zelis took a redshirt at Stetson if he were to transfer to D1 he would have to sit and then only have 1 year to play. Unless he goes to D2 like the big kid Jud had who left for Rollins.

I don't want to sound overly critical, but Zelis is a way from being D1 ready

That's what I heard as well. There's a new rule that allows that right?
