So agree with this. Only bad thing about the FedExForum is that it's a Pepsi arena in a area vastly dominated by Coca-Cola. Thank God AutoZone Park and the Liberty Bowl are Coca-Cola product supplied.

Eh? I'm not sure whether it helps with the B12 or not. But to say very few major conference stadiums have chair backs is foolish. Just in the SEC West alone you have:
Alabama
Auburn
Arkinsaw
LSU
TAMU
Miss State

It doesn't seem like chairbacks would do much to enhance our bid, but was the proposal limited to chairbacks or were additional Liberty Bowl upgrades approved as well? I don't know.

This is an incompetent and illogical Council that typically cannot agree on the time. They can't figure out how to keep the roads paved and they turn simple chair buying into a circus. I struggle to believe they would pass a proposal involving millions of dollars for something like chairbacks without public rancor and grandstanding unless something significant was involved behind the scenes.

If Dr. Rudd is simply that persuasive, perhaps he can work on getting Coca-Cola products at FedEx Forum.

Gross.

So you like Pepsi? I almost never go to the concession stand because I despise it.

I came alive and joined The Pepsi Generation.

Not me. I'd rather have coke.

Sounds like the "ring" of seat backs is not a complete ring. Any idea as to why?

Nobody wants to pay more for a seat in the endzone.

The actual chairbacks themselves don't. But it shows that we are continually investing in the program. It will make the fan experience better which will help attendance. Fans will pay more for those seats, will be more invested and thus are more likely to show up for every game. It also lowers capacity which makes it easier to sellout, easier to create demand, and of course will drive up revenues.

So no, a chair back seat in and of itself doesn't help us get into a power conference but the investment and all the associated benefits make our program stronger which inevitably better positions us. Every little bit helps and this is not insignificant.

Well, they can leave it as is and get your cash instead of mine. I've got a wife and three teenagers. Between the Tigers and Grizz, I save a fortune every year on concessions simply because they sell Pepsi.

Did you grow up in the South? I was about fifteen before I ever encountered Pepsi. Then the 80's happened.

I didn't elaborate but clearly you didn't get my point. Which is fine because how could you? Its the Internet. Yes those schools have SOME chair all seating but they also have 20,000 students that show up for each game. We're talking about 4,000 chair backs in a stadium that will now host 57,000. Those schools probably have 8,000 chair backs in stadiums that host 70,000+. Apples to oranges. All schools have small numbers of chairbacks. But their percentage of chairbacks to full capacity is higher than ours. Don't be stupid.

I grew up in the south. Lived here for over half a century. I'd rather drink out of the toilets than drink anything made by Coke.

But you said "Very few major conference stadiums have chair back seats". Not the case. Whether it's 8k for a 70k stadium, or 4k for a 57k stadium was not apples/oranges. The point was not the ratio of chair backs. The point was MANY major conference stadiums have backs as an option. The LB will now have backs as an option. Again, not sure if it helps for the B12 case - but it sure doesn't hurt.

No, the seats don't improve our chances of getting into a power 5 conf anymore than our airport, but what it does do is show support. Support from the local gov by fronting the expense, support of university in advancing our program, support from our donors to pay a coach that is worth a head coaching opportunity and then lastly it encourages additional fan support and improves the perception in our own community who has spent more time laughing at our product than cheering for it the last 30 years.

So what we have seen is the following:

School Support for football: IPF and paying our coaches. Committed to winning.
Local support for Football: increased ticket sales and chair backs. Redevelopment of fairgrounds. FedEx and booster support.
State Support for Football: Local board of governance.

Three recipe items for a successful future in football. Maybe in a P5 conference.

I've noticed Houston does not have all three of these.

Fan support non-existetent and questionable state support (Texas moving into Houston).
