RE: UT track and field 2015-16
Liz Weiler competes today (Thursday) in the 3000 meter steeplechase. The article I linked to in the post above says the start time is 5:02 p.m., but apparently that's 5:02 Pacific time. If that's right, then of course it's 8:02 Eastern.

Steeple is on ESPN right now. Middle of heat 1. Weiler is in heat 2.

Liz finishes 9th in her heat, and 18th overall. Doesn't qualify for the finals.
Congrats on a great season and a great career as a Rocket!

not a UT guy, but the Akron 1,500 meter guy (Clayton Murphy) just won a championship and looked impressive doing it with his kick. Pretty much smoked the guy from Washington that got all the pre-race hype. If we don't have a men's team, at least we can pull for some of the MAC teams that still exist. I believe Akron also had a champ last year in the pole vault. Maybe a couple of years ago, time flies anymore...

The athletic program at Akron is building an impressive resume. First winning the NCAA Men's soccer championship a year or so ago and now winning an individual title in the Men's 1500m. Akron is winning national championships in sports UT doesn't even offer.
I guess UT decided to put all their eggs the "winning MAC Championships" basket instead. Hmm, upon further reflection, I don't think that idea holds up under scrutiny.

Shawn Barber. He won a couple NCAAs. Quit to train for the Os where he'll likely compete for Canada.

Rockets announce another transfer on Instagram:
Quote:toledoxctf We're excited to welcome Madison Pierce to the Rocket family! Madison comes from Ortonville, MI by way of Siena Heights University. She has a LJ best of 19'6.25" and a PV best of 12'6". She should contribute right away in both events as well as help bolster our sprint ranks. #UTTF #RocketNation
That LJ would have finished 6th in the MAC championships last year. The PV, 9th.
