No, Nichols would be coming off the bench. Dad not as dumb as some think. Just didn't man up and state the real reason for leaving. Sort of like the former football coach. Spin it so you don't look as bad.

Yea right spin it any way you like.. He left for 1 reason and 1 reason only PASTNER.. Period..

You don't have a clue.

I do have a clue.. His Dad never wanted him to play for Pastner.. His Mom wanted him to stay here.. He signed with Memphis because he wanted to stay home.. Year ends AN wasn't happy, with Dad's influence he decided to leave.. He left because of Pastner-Period.. I know him I'm not just making it up..

He was bk with his GF before he ever left the team.. Some people on here read what some on here say and take it for facts.. Again I guess knowing him and obviously you don't doesn't hold water.. Besides you have proven plenty of times on here how clueless you are!!

This is by far the dumbest, most unbelievable reason for transferring in the history of the Earth. You are thick if you actually believe that.

Actually pretty funny, AN and Daly were bk together weeks before his decision.. She is still with him and visits him often.. But yea his Dad was influential but AN was the one who made the final decision and he wouldn't have gone if he was happy here.. But I'm thru with this and it doesn't really matter anyway except for the fact if AN was still here this team would be much better..

But considering one of the big questions about this season's basketball team was the inside presence:

The Dedric/Shaq combo is averaging an honest 30 ppg, on 48.4% shooting. 17.6 rebounds. 4.1 blocks. Heck, even 66% FT shooting, thanks largely to Shaq's improvement to .725 from the line (player development, or just an aberration?).

IMO, what we really missed last night was Burrell's contributions at SF of 9.2 ppg, and his 7.2 boards (which is amazing given his limited minutes).

Roughly 1/4 of the way into the season, and with Dedric's freshman wall yet to be hit, I'm optimistic. This is far from a complete team, and we're in big trouble if either Dedric or Shaq gets injured, but so far so good.

Burrell needs to start over Crawford

Agreed. Crawford can make some flashy moves but fundamentally needs improvement. He's a terrible FT shooter. He makes bad decisions going to the basket. He tries to draw fouls but doesn't get the calls then it's a turnover. The Tigers really miss Burrell when he's not in there.

Yes, Burrells injury combined with Nichols quitting when he did made last night tougher, but even with missing them, team should have played better early. Got a little sucked in to the idea of showing up and winning, but remedied that and dominated the last ten minutes to win going away.

As always...and as applies to every school in the country, should our kids duplicate that effort against a stronger team they will likely lose. Because of that is not mentioned people will surely think no one understands that, like at every team in the country.

Meanwhile, team is two games ahead of last season, hopefully continuing that against this softer stretch.

Comical ain't it? But this place is like a broken record in that regard. It reminded me of when I was in college and worked in a parts warehouse. If something was messed up we always blamed the guy that left or got fired.

Crawford earned his spot with D. It's either TB or Woodson. I would like to see TB and instant offense off bench with Woodson. Like a Rodney Newsome for oldsters.

It would have been between Shaq and Dedric with trying to play Dedric at 3 some. AN would play 30 mpg due to D and IQ. Very good college player.

I don't pretend to know the real reason why he left. But, Nichols has no basketball IQ. Totally over-rated.

Dedric plays better defense that Austin...Casual fans fall in love with blocks, but it was clear that Austin had trouble with on ball defense especially if the person Austin is guarding can play on the perimeter. Yep Austin got 1.5 blocks a game but Dedric gets 8. more steals a game and 2.9 more rebounds a game and actually can guard a big man on the perimeter.

They're both players that most any team would want. Difference, to me, is that we would have a half court offense with Austin. He could get the ball, back to the basket, on the blocks and score it.

Shaq tries, but just doesn't have the post moves. Dedrick will develop that part of his game in a year or two, maybe sooner. He's still really young. When he realizes he can score on people one-on-one down low, he will. I agree, he'll probably end up being better than Austin.

Shaq should have been practicing post up moves his whole career with a ball that will not dribble. He HAS to put the ball on the floor most every move. When he doesn't he scores about 70 percent of the time.
