Odom turns down Memphis...

Were I Memphis, I would not negotiate with a Sexton guy ever again. Or at least the next decade.

Something tells me he won't be Odom's agent after this debacle and not getting either job. What a colossal screw up on Sexton's part.

The selection committee got it right the last time. Why all the drama?

Nice shot. Could be. Makes sense.

That's what I'm thinking also.

I was looking for some info on Jimmy Sexton after reading all about him here. This article seems to present him as this nice, humble guy that everyone likes. :-/

Odom would d!ck his own school that way? BTW -- wonder how much Sexton makes after these moves?

RE: Odom turns down Memphis...
Seriously should we have been hiring a coach that ALREADY wanted another job?

I mean until we get into a P5 they all will want leave... but hey, at least lie to me and say you want to be here. It was already known he didn't really want this job....

It's kinda disheartening really. It hard to get completely invested in the football side of things the way things are now. It's not fun being a steppingstone. At least until a miracle happens and we get into a P5.

At the very least, this thread title should be changed to "I heard Odom turned us down", but in reality should be included in all of the other speculation in the another thread.

RE: Odom turns down Memphis...
If he wants to wait around while Missouri hits on every half-attractive girl in the room before finally settling with him (which they may not), then have at it. We'll go get someone who actually wants the job. Odom is not some amazing coach. He's a coordinator, not nick Saban

Why doesn't he remain employed at Missouri --- DC creds and 'player love' considered?

2 reasons off the top of my head:

1) same reason they have not offered him the HC job, some people of influence want a clean break from the previous staff
2) new guy will likely want to bring in his own guys for the coordinator positions, I doubt he would agree to a demotion

Considering the "player situation" at Missouri and the fact that Odom is a hell of a DC --- I guess we'll disagree.

If Missouri is hiring a head coach from somewhere else, that coach is almost certainly going to want his own coordinators to come with him. He might be a hell of a DC, but if the HC hasnt worked with him before, he's not going to sh*t on his current DC to take someone unknown to him.

Sure he will. Did Fuente take his DC or did he keep Foster on staff..?

Odom isn't going to go hungry. He's a very good DC, he'll find a job somewhere.

If you think that is normal, go right ahead and think that. If you are Odom, you should be under the assumption that if Missouri hires a head coach, you will be unemployed.

Amen be done with Sexton and his cronies.

If sexton had anything to do with it it will turn out bad.

RC and Sexton was the reason for Porters demise and other bad hires.
Be done with him for ever and just use the search firm if needed.
