Frost can work there.

Babers would have made Holman a 1st or 2nd round draft pick.

Frost coached Marriota........That's not a bad pedigree. This is great news for Holman, but he better be ready to put in the time to relearn some things, and our receivers better learn to run patterns at full speed, and get on top of their cardio.

Looks like a solid hire. I've always loved Oregon's offense and UCF should definitely be able to get the athletes to run it.

Nobody wants to coach at Nebraska or Wisconsin anymore.

4. UCF won't be a guaranteed 'W' on the schedule next year.

last year scott was one of the hottest coaching hires out there, he was 3rd on on the coaches we wanted after herman

but we had 2 concerns,
1) chip kelly gave oregon a well oiled machine when he left with a qb already well versed in his system, does scott know how to make it from scratch (its an even bigger question this year as their first go round with their players didnt look as good)

2) he has no recruiting ties to Texas, for ucf he has no recruting ties to florida

but weirdly enough its been unofficial for 2 days that he was going to be syracuse's head coach

overall it will be a good hire depending on his coordinators
he has no florida ties but is young and energitic so he'll get alot of recruits of that and mariota/deanthony thomas

ill be honest, i would love this hire if ucf was a 6 or 7 win team, then his job is to come in and improve a team..a coach with no experience leading a ship trying to steer a team out of winless is no easy task

UCF should have been at least a 6-8 win team this year with average coaching and few injuries. There is plenty of talent on the roster. Frost probably sees that and figures that he can win 6 next year and maybe 9 or 10 the following year then parlay this into a top P5 job (Nebraska, Texas). Unfortunately UCF will be left with a new offense that only certain coaches can run.

UCF has been a very good team but this statement can't be serious, right?

Stuff is starting to leak out now that the season is over. In addition to basically unprecedented injuries and being really young to begin with (33 freshman started at some point), we had coaches fighting publicly in meetings with each other early on in the season.

Basically, this year was less about UCF not being any good, and more about it being a full blown implosion.

Just about every sportswriter is fawning over this hire, our players seem to be extremely excited about it, and it's likely to at least somewhat save recruiting this year (though its still late in the game).

I'm guessing 4-6 wins next year (drastically new system from GOL, there's bound to be personnel gaps), competitive year 2, back in form year 3.

Plus some coaches quit almost a month ago.

"Insider chatter, UCF's Brent Key and certain staff had cleaned out office up to 3 weeks prior to final game. (Leaving field at 2 PM, no more team meetings, etc) Also that that they might not of put a game plan together for ECU or USF, instead used info from past season.

This should be treated as an unconfirmed rumor, but 2 weeks prior I had been told something similar in reference to the decline of UCF program, "Coaching staff had become very dysfunctional before and after O'Leary's departure"

UCF has more talent than Tulsa did this year, they were just poorly coached. I expect them to be at least 6-6. I can see Frost getting a JUCO / Transfer QB real quick.

Maybe on defense. Not on offense.

I liked Babers much better.

I like that he is offensive minded.
He can recruit at Oregon but this is FL and South FL is different then most areas in country.

I wanted a HC with HC experience.
I don't like his speaking style.
I also wanted a HC who wasn't a hired gun.
No FL ties so can he relate to FL fan base and recruits?

We had to leave Babers for Memphis or Tulane.

RE: Scott Frost (Oregon Offensive Coordinator) named UCF's new Head Coach
There's one thing you can't say about Scott Frost...that he's never been coached by great guys.

Been coached by Bill Walsh, Tom Osborne, Bill Parcells, Bill Belichick, and Jon Gruden.

Then coached under Chip Kelley at Oregon. And OC under Mark Helfrich at Oregon.

He'll develop those Florida ties and keep guys on the staff to help recruit Florida. The only downside would be if he is incredibly successful...and Nebraska under Mike Reilly isn't blooming...I am sure Scott Frost will become the next Nebraska HC. I think the only reason he isn't *now* is that they wanted someone with HC experience.

I wonder if Bo Pelini will ever get an FBS job again. I personally like the fiery attitude...but today's PC world doesn't really allow it.

Why in the world would they not want to coach at Nebraska? The fan support is immense. You can recruit there. It has an incredible tradition. They just need the right coach.

After Osborne, they had Frank Solich who was fired after a 9-3 season. Then the disaster that was Bill Callahan. Bo Pelini helped turned it around and was also fired after a 9 win season due to his anger management issues. And now they have Mike Reilly..who the verdict is still out and will be for a while...but he'll probably have Nebraska in a bowl game due to the lack of bowl eligible teams.

I don't know if Reilly is a great fit there. I am sure some Nebraska fans had hoped Frost would have been there instead...but if Frost does great things at UCF...I expect he'll be there.

Congrats Knights... we know from experience it's good when the hire gets made, some of the uncertainty goes away... then you can start getting excited about the rebuild. It took us a few tries, hope this guy gets you on track quickly.

RE: Scott Frost (Oregon Offensive Coordinator) named UCF's new Head Coach
I really wanted Geoff Collins or Baber... I never heard Frosts name mentioned. That being said I think he is a fine choice. This should lead to some exciting UCF offenses. The proof is in the pudding though...I want to see what kind of staff he hires...particular who he get as a Defensive Coordinator, Offensive Line Coach, and Strength and Conditioning Coach. Make no mistake about it. UCF was injured last year. It will take a while to win back recruits. Also, We lost a lot of players to injury, and we were very poorly coached...but we also had a significant talent deficit last year. Last year we were a very very bad football team. 4 or 5 wins next year would be a major success story.
