I think that's possible. Richt said today he is open to all offers.

Heck if I'm South Carolina I'm giving Richt a call. They could potentially be losing their top 2 coaching choices.

If I'm USC east I offer Richt today.

Their fan base would love another aging coach on the back end of his career...

They could and probably will do a whole lot worse. I've heard a few people mention the possibility of Lincoln Riley there, but that's a big swing that could either be a home run or an epic failure and I don't know that their AD has to guts to put his entire career on the line for a 32 year old coach.

He's only 55. He could easily coach for 10-15 years and is probably far better than any other candidate they are looking at.

RE: Herman Agrees To Stay At Houston
Can't remember where I saw the posting, but some think Herman would be wise to stay at Houston this year with the UT likely being open next year. Talk about a Win/Win for the guy, stays in Texas with a great contract at Houston and Texas has the money to buy out his contract if they get rid of Strong next year. Again, people from Texas would know more if this is even a likely scenario.

Herman is a Texas guy. I really never doubted he be back next year because I felted UT was not going to open up this year. I also highly doubt UT is as bad next year plus they seem to be about to hire TCU's CO-OC (which some people say really is the mind behind Boykins raise). If they get the O fixed Strong could turn things around. One of the Texas top jobs will open soon. It more likely Herman waits for one then going outside of his confront zone unless neither opens up in 2 yrs.

There also is the "chance" UH gets a call up. If UH gets into a P5, Herman going to stick around for awhile. It would be everything he wants. 2 yrs max we shall know...

I'll just leave this here...

Quote:Cincinnati coach Kelly gets extension through 2013
Updated 6/22/2009 2:49 PM
CINCINNATI (AP) — The University of Cincinnati on Monday said football coach Brian Kelly has signed a contract extension, adding a year at nearly $1.5 million.

School officials said Kelly is guaranteed $1.475 million to stay through the 2013 season. The school said there are also performance-based incentives for Kelly, and that the new deal also raises the pay of his assistants.

"His impact has been immediate not only as a coach, but also as a member of our community and a great ambassador for the university," said Mike Thomas, the Bearcats' director of Athletics.

MORE ON BEARCATS: Cincinnati team notes
Kelly signed a five-year contract worth $6.3 million in December 2007 following his first full season at Cincinnati. The new deal must be approved by the school's board of trustees.

"You've got to tell me what's a better situation than Cincinnati," Kelly said. "You could make a case that there are a few schools out there, but no longer do you have to look at Cincinnati and go, 'There's a better job out there.' I don't believe there is."

Kelly last season led the Bearcats to a Big East title and an Orange Bowl appearance. After there were overtures Kelly might be a candidate for other coaching jobs, Kelly and Thomas announced last December they were working on an extension.

"This agreement allows me and my family to call Cincinnati our home, not just a place where we live," Kelly said

(I'm sorry, I'm doing this more for protection than anything, I hate seeing these types of situations where coaches just take advantage and screw over entire fan bases...mainly because it has happened 3 times to me over the past decade)

2-5 years from now Morris and Herman will still be battling in Texas for recruits...but one will be for UT and the other for TAMU.

for now. until what he perceives as a better job comes along. or, to get himself better leverage, to use against the schools that will be contacting him.

I hope he stays. but, like other uc fans, I've seen these lying whores, excuse, I mean, coaches, do this dance too many times. you can't trust a word that they say.

But if this buys them even one more season under Herman, that's worth a lot. Proving it back to back years will help build their program, even if he's not there forever.

Not at all. Texas is hiring Sonny Cumbie from TCU to run the offense
