RE: CBS: After LSU players carry Les Miles off field, AD tells coach he will return
As I said somewhere else tonight, I don't think his job was ever in jeopardy. I just think that they truly wanted to get rid of some of his coaching staff. That will still happen. From what folks have said, Miles is a very stubborn man. The losses allowed him to be maneuvered and pressured. Expect a new AD and a new QB coach.

That was one heck of a long meltdown by the LSU people. They were in complete meltdown since the Bama game. That might be an all-timer.
It would have been so stupid to fire Les. So stupid. Now they can do the smart thing and try to get a new offense out on the field.
Stoops lost 5 games last year and is now in the playoff and would not be surprising if he wins the natty.

To most people, this situation probably seems crazy. To anyone that lives in or has lived in Louisiana before? Not all that surprising.

The LSU offense under Miles has always been run heavy, but he has rarely had a QB that was a threat throwing the ball all over the field. They had a top recruit for 2016, but he recently de-committed. Unless they get better play from the QB position, this scene will play out again in a year or two.

I would guess within 3 years Miles will be gone from LSU. Les is what ?63? So, LSU can watch the slow decline for a little longer.

Hasn't Les gone thru 4 OC's during his tenure?

Yes, and they still run the same offense.

LSU got it wrong: It is time for Miles to go.

LSU officials are catching a lot of flack for allegedly bungling this situation but they shouldn't. To my knowledge, no LSU admin ever said anything about Miles's job being on the line. All that happened was that the media identified unnamed "sources" and "boosters" and then ran with those tidbits like they were Official Gospel.

LSU still handled the situation horribly...and really unless they already had their guy they should not have even went there with this...

But that's my point: LSU *didn't* go anywhere with this. No LSU official EVER said anything about Miles being in jeopardy, about looking for a new coach, etc.
It was just stuff like ESPN quoting a booster as saying *Miles* said it might be his last game (not that Alleva or any LSU official said it), and then everyone running with it. LSU can't control that, can they?

Did the LSU AD ever deny the reports? Nope. LSU handled it badly & it never should've happened. If I were Les I would consider going elsewhere.

RE: CBS: After LSU players carry Les Miles off field, AD tells coach he will return
I think it is pretty obvious that Alleva was one of those that wanted to get rid of Miles. He had zero emotion in his announcement. They either couldn't raise the money, or they lost the interest of whomever they were hoping to replace Miles with. With all the reaction they got from ESPN talkers and LSU fans, they needed to have a big name to follow up Miles with. Without that name, there is no way they could go forward with firing Miles.

And he was completely unemotional and brief to an extreme with his statement after the game. I didn't get the impression that he was all that happy to be keeping Miles.
Something fell through behind the scenes. I don't think they had a big name coach to replace him with. Firing Miles and then only getting a perceived mediocre coach would bring down the axe on Alleva. He wasn't putting his job on the line.

Exactly....when Jimbo Fisher came out earlier yesterday saying he was very happy @ FSU the deal was over for LSU...
