Playoff Tickets
Not sure if it has been discussed elsewhere yet

Looks like students, who aren't DC25 members, have to pay $5 for a ticket to the playoff game. I know the whole NCAA pricing requirements saga or whatever exists but I feel like in 2008 I didn't have to pay for any. Am I remembering correctly?

How do we donate a few bucks to the Duke Club so students don't have to pay? I know, as a recent grad, that most of my friends wouldn't have paid a dime in college to go to a football game.

Thoughts?

RE: Playoff Tickets
Well if you want that to happen, abou 40K would be needed for first game. That's assuming 8K students show.

As far as I can remember from my time, paying for playoff tickets was there

Same, I don't think we had to pay in '08 or at least the first X number of students to register/swipe JAC card could get in free

I was dirt poor in college. I think I could have scrounged up a 5 spot to go to a playoff game.

I think I paid as a student in 08 but I don't remember. They had to pay last year. They only budget student fees for the regular season, so additional revenue would have to come from somewhere.

Students DID NOT pay last year. I had to buy my guest tickets but the school/alphadogs/community at large paid for the student tickets.

I was in school and students definitely paid. This is nothing new.

We had more seats than students for the Montana game in 2008 and that was when it was 20 degrees, students paying, and exams had concluded.

If our student fan base is worth a damn, $5 will not prevent them from showing up. If it does, that's on the students and not JMU.

Yeah, and like $5 in 1985 would be like $50 in today's money so they should like step up

Closer to $500. I could buy 2 pitchers of beer for $5 at JM's.

According to an inflation calculator, $5 in 1985 is equivalent to $11.05 in 2015. More than doubled.

Yeah guys, they can afford it but you're missing the point. It's hard enough to get students to games...making them inconveniently pay is going to do nothing but lower attendance. Now they have an excuse not to go...

Spread the word that it will be live on ESPN and they will show. (They don't have to know that it is ESPN3.)

To be fair, they could easily just not pay for one extra pitcher at Backcountry on Thursday night as well.
