Come on this is the playoffs, the final 16 teams.....there is no excuse/cop-out for the opponent not being 'sexy' enough. That is nothing but an excuse.

That's what I was saying. We wont (SHOULDNT) have to worry about students showing up and if anything this will be the least-attended playoff game, that's all

RE: Playoff Tickets
Students make attendance decisions on a game by game basis. I think the student attendance will be solid given the marketing push and weather forecast. It's the non-student attendance that will be dicey.

Most people buy season tickets knowing that they can't make every game - but it still counts as paid attendance. No one buys a playoff ticket knowing they can't go to the game - and plenty of people have conflicts, especially this time of year. I think JMU does a very admirable job trying to bolster attendance, but there's only so much they can do.

RE: Playoff Tickets
Honestly, if we drew 15k, I'd be pleased. It's an extra expense around Christmas time, short notice (sort of), $5 charge for students (lame excuse) and not an optimal starting time for out of towners. If we win big though, I think we'll improve on those numbers, if for no other reason than increased excitement and optimism. Go Dukes!

Considering this may be our only home game you would think that people would want to make sure that they got out to the game, but who knows. I would guess that based on the weather you will see a pretty big late buying/walk up crowd on the day of the game.

We are a 5 seed. If Chalk wins out for seeds - we go on the road.

Get to the game.

They look out the window and see another miserable rainy damp crappy day for the third day in a row. I say this since I have been told that students wait til within 24 hours of the game to make the decision on attending. So on Friday they should see a nice sunny day and then thousands and thousands of students will decide to attend the game. Well I can hope can't I?

On another note I am watching Fargo on FX last nite and a snazzy film clip of JMU highlights comes on during the commercial break touting Saturday's game. The students of my day would be watching Fargo, and would be jacked to go to the game after seeing those highlights.

I am still hoping..........

Think or be. You can't do both.

Old stadium sections are "medium", which appear to be 1/3 to half full.

I guess we get 18-20k. as always, it comes down to the students.

I noticed that you can purchase tickets to be given away to local organizations/charities. I wonder if that is what they have the blacked out sections in the corner for?

I don't see any blacked out sections at BFS. There are just a ton of upper deck and next to visitor seating area tix left. I'm envisioning a similar crowd to what we saw against Villanova- which really ain't that bad!

Students should show up. They just put the banner about the game up on the back end of Godwin, saw curt Dudley tweet out that student tickets were off to a good start, and it should be nice weather. Ofc me and my fellow sports management majors are exited for the game and have been spreading the word. Will get a better feeling of the "buzz" on campus as the week goes on.

Define several?

I'm not trying to rain on everyone's parade. I want nothing more than to see a packed Bridgeforth.

But if you log onto the ticket site right now only the sections touching the chairback/club sections are "full" and even still they have some availability in them.

If ticket sales do not pick up fast, this will a crowd of around 15,000 people (which would still be good attendance numbers for the playoffs compared to other teams).

RE: Playoff Tickets
As of 6:15 PM, there are still 255 club seats available (with $50 donation). 680 have been sold. There are about 370 chairback seats available (again with $50 donation) , with 310 already sold.

Most people won't even see these are available because you have to select "Improve Your Gameday Experience". If not, you are shown that all the priority sections are sold out, and are ushered to corners, endzone or old side. There are still lots of tix available in decent sections, but are being held for Duke Club members who haven't purchased yet or those who will hopefully notice that good seats are available w/ a 50 dollar contribution.

Yeah I just browsed the tickets, and wow, there are lots of open seats. I hope there are is some serious action Wed-Friday to sell some seats, or else its going to be a disappointing crowd.

There should be a stand for students to buy tix before going in because despite the ads you know some will think its free just like all the other games. I think the students will show up no problem, it'll be filling the upper deck of the new side that will be lacking. Either way I'm pumped up and ready for Saturday morning already.

RE: Playoff Tickets
From the club seat perspective, the Duke Club raised the ticket price of the club seats to $135 per ticket this year. That's up from $100 last year. Not sure why the large increase but I can understand why some club seat owners would not buy club seats for the playoffs. $135 per ticket on top of what we already pay for season tickets is hard to justify. Also figure that not all the club seats were sold during the regular season so JMU will likely not sell out the club during the playoffs.

The hole in the center of the the lower deck was pretty big during the reg. season w/ the corporate fans milling around inside. It'll likely look worse on Saturday.

Looks like a lot was sold after that 6:15 post. Most of the 100-200 new side sections are now fully gone.
