Offensive game plan was to keep Paxton
from getting hurt. Is there any other logical explanation? I would love to see our avg yds to go on 2cd downs. Probably 9 or more. We ran the ball or threw a line of scrimmage pass virtually every 1st down. Very disappointed.

They were only putting 6 in the box and had safety help over the top...WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FORCE THEM TO BRING A SEVENTH GUY INTO THE BOX. But they stopped our run with 6.

You can't protect a qb waiting until 3rd and long to throw. If he's that hurt put Holgerson in. That game didn't mean anything in the bigger picture anyway

Sure you do. 2 of 3 plays no risk of getting hurt because we run the ball and Lynch wasn't holding it long on 3rd down either after a few hits.

Single coverage on wide outs, safeties cheating toward run-Paxton killed that with 20 plus yards for most of season.

Play action on first down is what helps the QB. Waiting for third down gets him killed, which is what happened. I just talked to TG who was at the game and Lynch fine in pregame warmup

Protection I was referring to was for NFL draft. Why has whole offensive identity changed?

So you didn't see in the game where the guy tackled him and fell on his ankle? They talked about it.

Navy exposed a weakness...And Temple used the same strategy against us.
You have to take what the defense gives you.

They weren't in man coverage for most of the game.

RE: Offensive game plan was to keep Paxton
Never threw the ball down field. Even against the Tampa 2, the throw-back that we use should have been effective down field, and other backside throws too with PL rolling out but instead we kept calling the miss-direction runs for no-gain. The O-line couldn't even protect against a 3-man rush on several occasions. Of course Cross dropped a likely touchdown & Tevin Jones looked like he had no hands at all on what should have been big plays. Defense had several 3rd & 10+ situations & we still allowed 1st downs. And we had several stops negated by dumb penalties. But worse than all of that was the lack of effort on both sides of the ball & missed tackles. Worst game effort in the last 2 yrs. First game I've been disappointed in the game plan, the execution & the effort all in one game. Of course, JMO....Go Tigers.

So most of you guys think we did all we could on O and every time I suggest a play that could have been run, Temple already had it covered?

Yep, I thought our offensive line was getting manhandled today. I wasn't too thrilled with continually trying to run the ball and leaving ourselves in 3rd and long.

RE: Offensive game plan was to keep Paxton
This story line changed from the subject of the message. If the reason Paxton Lynch played so poorly was to not get hurt, then it was a big mistake as this game made him look like a mediocre quarterback, and not the first round pick everyone says. To me, it was like the whole team has quit, and a reason maybe that they can't get an answer from Coach Fuente on rather he's staying or going, and are upset about it. Something sure changed from the way this team has been playing, defense problems have been there all year, offensive problems the worst it has been all year. I guess we'll find out in about a week or so when the news hits the fan.

The offense has not played a complete four quarters since Tulsa. Didn't show up in first half against Tulane and then took the second half off in the last three games. Too much reading of press clippings. Believing they can turn it on at any time and when they do not they start pressing. It is a mental thing right now. Stop them once or twice in second half and it gets into our heads.
