RE: Is Boise State's reign over?
The MAC has schools not named UMass though that are dead weight.. The MAC has half the remaining 12 schools that the school won 1 of 4 OOC game. Of those 6- the 1 win was FCS for 5 of the 6. The other was Eastern Michigan, who beat Wyoming in one of the worst football matchups of the entire season. The AAC on the other hand had 2 schools win 0 or 1 OOC game. CUSA had 3. MWC had 5. SBC had 8. When your rallying cry is we're better than the SBC, you have problems.

RE: Is Boise State's reign over?
The MAC did not cut UMASS, UMASS cut the MAC. The MAC wanted UMASS for all sports and UMASS said no so they went their separate ways. Meaning UMASS would rather be independent for football and keep all sports in the A-10 then be part of the MAC completely.

Boise has a legit stadium, legit fan base, plays in a tougher conference, better recruiting, travels to bowls better, been in numerous huge national games, plays the P5 teams pretty much as an equal status wise...NIU is doing nice things but sorry there is a pretty big difference.
Boise's fan base is pretty wide spread out west...NIU's is just a tiny pimple around DeKalb.

While I don't disagree with your main point, anyone who cites that NY Times article as evidence of anything is immediately suspect.
We all realize there are some anomalies but it was taken in a point in time...I'm sure Houston would rep better this year as the bandwagon has heated up in Metro Houston.
What it proved is NIU garners attention in small area in the outskirts of Chicago...that is it. Boise is more regional with some national cachet.

Is Boise State's reign over?

Stop pimping NIU every 2 seconds. We get it. You are "essentially" Chicago (in your minds). That's about it.
And even Chicago doesn't care. They love the Bears.
Boise has fallen off a bit this year for sure, to speak to the main post.
They believe if they pimp their school constantly on a meaningless message board that it will get there school into a new conference. When in reality, they are just beating on a dead horse.

Though Western Michigan's 3 OOC losses were to Ohio State, Michigan State, and a 7-2 Georgia Southern.
The MAC has deadweight in football, but some of that deadweight is much better in the other sports.
Back to Boise though, every team is going to go through a down period. Maybe their most recent reign is over, but they might have the ability to get back there before long.

"They" ... it's all in fun, and Stay Cool is just playing devils advocate. It doesn't equate to reality.
Toledo not being able to get over the NIU hump is reality. Remember last year when Toledo claimed NIU won because of a injury ridden team and they were using a 5th string QB. Well same thing for NIU this year....

Boise State have some players injured and out of the lineup. If they had healthy players? They may not have lost.
Boise's offensive line seems at time to protect their QB, and others do not protect him well.

One bad season which a lot of programs would love to have.

Isn't this the same thread from 2 years ago when they lost 4 games only to go 12-2 last year with a Fiesta bowl victory?

LOL, just like LSU losing a few games and panicking. It's "what have you done for me lately" society.
